Is this the process for me?

So since canada no longer does DCF via the local consulates, I am wondering what the full process is for IR-1? We both are in Canada and will apply (I-130) from here to the Chicago Lockbox, but then where does it go from there?. It seems there is some confusing info in various wiki and other posts as it has now changed (Aug 15, 2011)as to the route in a case like mine.

That's the gist of the process, but that PDF is kind of outdated. Since you're going through Canada, I would suggest reading the wiki I wrote that's linked in my signature as it talks about electronic processing (optional) and online forms (required).

But the process is basically:

-send I-130 package to Chicago lockbox

-wait about 5 months for USCIS to approve it

-spend about 1-3 months in NVC

-wait the approximate 2 months from case complete at NVC to interview date in Montreal

Time frames might vary, depending how busy USCIS/NVC/Consulate are. But you're looking at about 9 months from filing the I-130 to having an interview in Montreal.
