Here's my previous thread to know a little background on my case:

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/325765-help-overstayed-b1b2/page__p__4858307#entry4858307

I have two issues for this thread:

1.) We're thinking of safe ways for Mom to travel interstate to attend my wedding. She's from the West Coast, we're from the Mid-West. Do you have any suggestion?

I heard of Amtrak, Greyhound and domestic flight. Can you provide your suggestions, opinions and experience regarding these? Will she be checked?

---- She has a valid Philippine-issued passport (new one), the old passport has the visa and the I-94.

2.) Found out Mom's grandfather is a veteran from WWII. We used to have membership cards from American Legion. I remember seeing those when I was younger. Is there any way this could help with our case?

Thank you very much, VJers! :)

She will only need a valid ID to board the plain. Whether it is DL, GC, Passport or any form of goverment issued ID's.

B1/2 validity until 2013 does not matter, she has overstayed her B1/2 since 2003 means if she got pulled out at either way, she will be with ICE.

There is no such method as safe and fail proof way, I am not sure if you have heard of the raids by ICE officer on Greyhound and Trains.

I stumbled on this article. Is it any true? It's dated 3-4 years ago. Can't find any recent ones.

During the process of checking the ID if a TSA agent stumbles upon an illegal person he has to report them to ICE, they would not let them just board the flight.

Her passport which she would use as ID contains entry stamps hence suggesting illegal status.

ICE is also doing the stops on bus and train check an article couple days back in politics section of the forum

Travel by public transport would not be a good idea.

But sounds like she is used to taking risks.

Mom's actually not much of a risk taker. That was one of her major risks and it didn't turn out well. We're all quite hesitant about transport. However, I decided to ask if it's possible. Mom being in the wedding would, of course, add to the special and happy feel of the event.

Thank you very much for all your suggestions!
