My wife got a receipt notice from USCIS indicating they'd received her EAD I-765 application on September 12, 2005. They sent the receipt notice to us three days later. Soon after, she received biometrics appointment letter and the appointment was scheduled for December 13th. She got her biometrics taken, and they marked up the appointment notification letter that day. It's now mid-February 2006, and we have our initial green card interview scheduled for one month from now.

IS THIS NORMAL?????? Still no EAD!!!

No, that's not normal. If you still don't have the EAD after 90 days has passed since you applied for it, or since you received your NOA for it, you can schedule an infopass appointment and ask for interim EAD. It's a temporal EAD you would be able to use.

Thanks for the link.

I just got off the phone with a case officer, and she acknowledged that the processing was way outside their time window. Unfortunately, because my wife wasn't with me at the moment, she could not be of any more help with specifics. Do you imagine that going in for an Infopass appointment would be more productive than calling USCIS again when my wife is with me? Or would it amount to the same thing? How long does it normally take to schedule an Infopass appointment?

You go to that link, and schedule one. Usually you don't have to wait for more than 2 weeks, sometimes ypu can schedule one right for the next day, it all depends on where you live and how busy they are in that area. Going for an infopass would be more productive, because they can issue the temporal EAD card right there and give it to your wife.

Thanks Anastasia. We've made an appointment for next Thursday. The schedule seemed pretty wide open, which I found surprising since we're in New York. I hope they can issue that temporary EAD right on the spot.
