I would save my money and wait the 3 years.

It would not surprise me if a Lawyer said the same thing. I would be worried if they said otherwise.

That's probably what I'm going to do. However, I kept my appointment with my attorny for tomorrow since it's a free consultation. That wouldn't hurt to get his opinion as well.

Boy Bluemoon, I bet that's the last time you'll post on here again!! Wow :help:

By the time he is finished, he will be the go to expert on this subject. Hopefully, he will visit this (his) thread from time to time, and keep us posted.

I don't know much but I do agree, maybe you misread the question, but you should've definitely made the intent of stating what you did. When my dad filed for naturalization last March, he had had a dismissed stop sign violation, but he still marked that area because it falls under detained. Meaning, you were stopped. Just because you didn't have the handcuffs on you doesn't mean you were not detained or wrong in doing something. I do believe you can reopen the case, and ask a lawyer, a good one (not one of those who you call and an answering machine picks up with the hope they'll return your call) in order to make sure they can help you. If they gave you a form of appeal use it wisely, Im sure theres a way to explain

Sorry. I was using the generic nonspecific pronoun under the current politically correct rules. Since I am male, I should use he when using a non-gender specific pronoun, as you should use she. :star:

Yes, and like I said before that was MY mistake. As far as lawer goes, I don't know this guy yet but I will see him tomorrow. I'm not sure if he is the type I want to hire but I'll find out tomorrow. I need a lawer anyway and that would be a good idea to start looking for a good one from now.. Thanks for your comment.

Hey bluemoon...

I read some of the comments you recieved here and some of them were pretty harsh. We all make mistakes in life and its important we learn from them. Wish you the best of luck and you do what's best for you.

Its all okay, don't worry. Just take it calmly. I know this is a long process and we all come here to seek some type of anxiety relief/information. Just keep us posted :)

What you said was wrong and I was correcting it, people are deported for many more reasons other then terrorism. It does not matter if you are married to a US citizen if you do something wrong you can be deported.

Inky --I am just adding my two cents here --a person can be deported if they commit a felony . What the guy did was a misdemeanor and cannot be deported for that . Felony like drugs , murder and possession of a weapon is instant deportation . Many persons with misdemeanors like petty theft, speeding ticket does not warrant deportation .

You have been detained for shoplifting, charged with petty theft and paid the fine. You did not do that because you were accused mistakenly, but because you were guilty as charged. You are a thief.

Yet you did not disclose this, wrongfully assuming the Feds are too stupid to find out within a comprehensive FBI background test.

Tell you what: if I had been the I.O. I would have seen this as a deliberate misrepresentation and declared you a persona non grata for the rest of your natural life. If I were you, I would thank my god for sparing me deportation and keep my mouth shut for another 3 years. If I was the judge getting your complaint on my table, I would order you deported before going to the bathroom.

You apparently have no idea how lucky you got.

JUST BOB --where did u get your ''information '' about deportation from ? Stop sweating out the man . A person will not get deported for a misdemeanor . He is asking for advise not criticism . Besides I do not think you are legally qualified to give such advise .
