My fiance has recieved "food stamps" in the past and is wanting to know if applying for them again during the K1 application time will cause a problem? She is a college student and cant get a job at the moment because it will mess with her school timtable. She isnt going to be acting as my main sponsor her father will take this role. Has anyone has experience with this in the past?

K1 Timeline:

30/05/11 I-129F Sent

06/06/11 NOA1 Recieved

15/07/11 Filed for Police Certificate

16/09/11 NOA2 Recieved

28/09/11 NVC Sent application to Sydney Consulate

06/10/11 Received Packet 3 from Sydney Consulate

30/10/11 Medical Exam

30/10/11 Sent Packet 3

15/11/11 Received Packet 4

29/11/11 Interview/Approval

09/12/11 Visa in hand

10/12/11 POE, LAX

16/12/11 Married

The petitioner is always the main sponsor. Regardless of no income they get a joint or co-sponsor that helps them.

Food stamps wont affect it unless you are using them, only she can use them.

Her father couldn’t be your primary sponsor. The petitioner has to be the primary sponsor. To be a sponsor, she should have some kind of income showing that you will not be a public charge when you come to the US. However, she can have a co-sponsor. So her father could be a co-sponsor.

Sorry abit of a typing error on my behalf, yes my fiance will be my sponsor and her father will be the cosponsor. Do you think if she uses FoodStamps it will be a problem?
