He's saying that the illegal Israeli settlers need to go back home to Israel - to separate themselves from Palestine.

Should Israeli Arabs be then forced to "separate themselves" from Israel and go "back home" to Palestine if or when there is a Palestinian state?

Are you at all familiar with journalistic editing? There are editors out there who could manipulate everything you've said in this thread to come out saying you believe in the tooth fairy. It's an artform really. It sells newspapers, and context be damned if it means selling fewer papers. That's their bottom line more than anything else.

"I want to take this opportunity to mention how thankful I am for an Obama re-election. The choice was clear. We cannot live in a country that treats homosexuals and women as second class citizens. Homosexuals deserve all of the rights and benefits of marriage that heterosexuals receive. Women deserve to be treated with respect and their salaries should not depend on their gender, but their quality of work. I am also thankful that the great, progressive state of California once again voted for the correct President. America is moving forward, and the direction is a positive one."

Google it. He said what he said. He can back tack all he wants, but when you say something like that when a blunt question is asked...it is what it is. Maybe he put his foot in his mouth, and he did say it's his own personal opinion...but he did answer that question with what was quoted.

This is not the first time Oren Dorell has deliberately omitted a few facts in his articles in order to produce a biased report on Muslim or Israeli issues. Seems he is the lead hitman/apologist for USA Today.

I want to apologize for coming on so strong...but he did say what was quoted. Again it's in the link posted in the OP, and the link you posted.

For all it's worth, I hope that the Arab - Jew thing is eventually worked out in a good way for all. I doubt it will happen, but it's always a possibility.

He said what was quoted. But it doesn't mention anything about "free of Jews" or "officially prohibiting Jews" or "judenrein" or any of the other hysterical BS inserted into the article by Oren Dorell and Elliott Abrams. (I am not saying *you* inserted this stuff.) Areikat clarifies further to Huffpo that "under no circumstances was I saying that no Jews can be in Palestine," and that he was referring to illegal settlers and Israeli soldiers: "persons who are amid an occupation, who are in my land illegally."

What's really hilarious is that "separating" Israelis from Palestinians has been Israel's official policy for the last 60+ years. Now Palestinians finally agree, and it's flip-out time.

I'm hip to the media lying through their teeth. They do it on a daily basis. But he was quoted in several new outlets ...not just a few. He said what he said.

It's in that google search link I posted up above.

You mean the USA link, and Pro-Israeli blog links that are quoting the USA headline?

You should write USA Today and let them know.

They're already hearing about it ;)

"Israeli Arabs" are citizens of Israel. Why should citizens be forced to leave their country ?

But illegal settlers are not citizens of Palestine.

(One would think that a person who hangs around on an immigration website would already be able to distinguish between "legal" and "illegal.")

http://dailycaller.com/2011/09/13/palestinian-ambassador-reiterates-call-for-a-jew-free-palestinian-state/

During a breakfast briefing hosted by the Christian Science Monitor on Tuesday, Palestinian Ambassador to the United States Maen Rashid Areikat reiterated his call to create a Jew-free Palestinian state.

“Well, I personally still believe that as a first step we need to be totally separated, and we can contemplate these issues in the future,” he said when asked by The Daily Caller if he could imagine a Jew being elected mayor of the Palestinian city of Ramallah in a future independent Palestinian state. “But after the experience of 44 years of military occupation and all the conflict and friction, I think it will be in the best interests of the two peoples to be separated first.”

Last year, Areikat made a similar statement during an interview with Tablet magazine. Asked whether it would be neccessary to transfer and remove “every Jew” from a future Palestinian state, Areikat responded “absolutely.”

“I’m not saying to transfer every Jew, I’m saying transfer Jews who, after an agreement with Israel, fall under the jurisdiction of a Palestinian state,” he said then. “I think this is a very necessary step, before we can allow the two states to somehow develop their separate national identities, and then maybe open up the doors for all kinds of cultural, social, political, economic exchanges, that freedom of movement of both citizens of Israelis and Palestinians from one area to another. You know you have to think of the day after.”

Asked after the Tuesday breakfast to clarify if he was truly calling for a Jew-free state, Areikat said that perhaps one day in the future things will be different.

“Listen, again, we have nothing against Jews. This is a political conflict,” he explained. “Once the political issues our resolved, every Palestinian should be welcomed in Israel. Every Israeli should be welcomed in Palestine. But under the current circumstances — an occupation power occupying a people against their will — this is something we are trying to end.”

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is planning on brining the issue of Palestinian statehood to the U.N. next week. President Obama has pledged to veto the effort if Abbas seeks full recognition from the U.N. Security Council. The Palestinians could also seek to elevate their status to a non-voting observer state through a vote of the U.N. General Assembly where the U.S. does not wield a veto.

He's talking about the illegal settlers - who do you think makes up 99.99999999999999999999% of the Jews who are living in Palestine ??? He is saying that illegal settlers who live in the illegal settlements which are in what will be the Palestinian state will not be able to stay.

I just read the entire interview from Tablet which Weinstein quotes in his Daily Caller article:

http://www.tabletmag.com/news-and-politics/48834/qa-maen-areikat/

Nothing about "free from Jews" or "prohibiting Jews" or "judenrein."

BTW did you know that a Jewish Israeli was elected to the Palestinian Parliament in 2009 ?

Why so upset, Why_Me? You don't like illegals either. The land for Palestine has to come from somewhere, and the occupied territory with Jewish settlements will probably be part of the new nation. They're already illegals, and I doubt that anyone will need to force Israelis from Palestine once the borders are established. Attrition will most likely be voluntary. Getting there is the larger and more complex issue.

He wasn't just referring to illegal settlers.

I'm not taking sides here...both sides have valid arguments and both sides work the media like there's no tomorrow.

All this is coming to a head. Israel and the US can't postpone the UN decision unless the US pulls the veto card, and if they do chances are they are going to end up with mud in their face. It's going to come down to East Jerusalem. The Arabs are going to claim it, and Israel isn't about to give it up.

Now, we know how much the liberal press distorts information about conservatives. The article is clearly slanted, and his words have no context on their own without the coloring offered by the author of the piece. I'm sure you can see that.

Frankly, I find it laughable that a nation with its own history of ethnic cleansing, that aggressively occupies land mandated to another nation, that calls itself a "Jewish" state, and that even discriminates against Jews by type is complaining about the people they've been oppressing wanting to maintain some separation between their two nations for a time.

He wasn't just referring to illegal settlers.
