Hey everybody,

My wife and I had our interview today to get my conditional residency and we were approved. Just have a few questions.

First off, the officer asked me what I wanted my name to be on my Conditional Residency Card, essentially he was asking me if I wanted my mother's maiden name dropped off. I told him yes, so now all I have is my first, middle, and last name followed by the II (He said he would try to put that). Will this be a problem? My SS card has my fist, middle, last and mother's maiden, so does my license and so does my birth certificate but I rarely ever use my mother's maiden.

2nd: How long does it take to get my card??

My interview was in ATL, GA

Thanks!!

At some point, you should update your passport to get the names to all match. My wife's name was A B (no middle initial), and when we did the interview she asked it to be changed to C, A B so that her maiden name is now her middle name. USCIS issued the GC as such, and SSA accepted the same name format. (I'm in Texas, and it should be easier to get her driver's license here now that we have both the GC and the updated SSA paperwork.)

Edited.

We had an approval notice in email that evening, and the physical GC came in about 10 days later. She was able to do an InfoPASS appointment four days later and get an I-551 stamp in her passport so she could travel.

Care,

Bill

Approved on Thursday, card arrived that Saturday. At some point you will want to get the names to match. My Mother's name was D A R but she went by A V R which is not much of a problem until you get some bank teller or other person that requires confirmation that both names are valid. Her DL and passport were A V R until she retired as her SSC was D A R so she changed everything back to D A R but there were several bank accounts and stocks that were A V R. Most people understand, but there are a few who like to show that they have the power to make your life hell and do so.

Congrats on the approval.

Thanks for the help. I just found out that Mexican Law does not allow me to change my name on my Passport. I don't know if this would pose a problem with re-entry into the United States. My passport, my consular card, my SS card, my birth certificate all are under L G Z-R. I wish I had just left it the same!!! Should I just change my Green Card? Or should I change everything else? SS said they would change the name to L G Z II. I don't know what to do!! I want to have L G Z II but the easiest is to keep L G Z-R. Thank God I was approved at least.

I would change all the US I.D to the name you want, and just leave all the Mexican stuff. This thread here: http://immigrate2us.net/forum/showthread.php?83228-Traveling-with-name-not-matching-on-passport-and-gc says this particular girls name is still her maiden BUT they added her husbands last name underneath in little letters.
