Getting ready in advance for NVC. My wife is from the countryside 1 hour north of Nanning, now living in Nanning. For whatever reason she never moved her ID records from her birth town to Nanning. She just sent me her Notorial police Certificate with translation. I noticed that it has her birth town listed as her address. This birth address does not/will not appear on any other Visa Forms/Applications, as she hasn't lived there since she was a child.

Will they care that her Police Certificate has this address on it?

They are used to 'Hukuo City' not being the 'City Where Maintain Residency'.

Or at least the GUZ IV folks are used to it. NVC won't care, as they know that ONE Police Report Covers all of China.

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

It is normal not to move the registration city to the city of residence. Actually from what I understand it is a pretty difficult process and requires government approval. My wife is from Nanning also, but lived in Chengdu almost the entire time we were together. The PC from her birth town will be fine for GUZ.

As a side note, this is why western media reports such a ridiculously high number for "migrant" workers in China. It isn't the classical definition of a migrant worker, but as far as the Chinese government is concerned, anyone working in a location other than the one they are registered is a migrant worker.
