me and my fiance, happens to talk about wedding plans...well, he wants to get married as soon as i come down on the plane...well, i think that is so sweet of him to say that...i would definitely want to do that...but of course being a woman, i would wish for a nice wedding that is well planned and organized...i did somehow talked it to him but not directly...but he answered me in a way that i felt like our wedding day is like an ordinary day for him...because he wants it so simple...no preparations or anything...and i just dont know how to convince him to have a better preparation on our wedding day...well, i dont intend to be wed several times, so i am thinking of a having a nice one...i think he is worried about the money, expenses to get married :( so i told him, would u rather want our wedding one month after i come in USA? well, he retaliated then someone called from his office and our conversation hasn't really ended...I want a nice wedding...i want to feel that our wedding day is specially prepared...but it seems he wanted like a drive-thru...what do you think girls? VJ members and friends? am i asking too much? or what? Hope someone responds...any opinion is appreciated...

well maybe he was thinking bout money, remember bringing you in states is kinda expensive somehow you have to understand him for that matter.no matter how we wanted to have nice wedding if hindi naman kaya ng budget we should settled nalang muna kung ano kaya ng hubby mo..pero tell him kung ano nararamdaman mo bout it.pero kung mag share ka sa wedding pwedi mo din suggest sa kanya yun..:)

You guys can do both. You can get legally married in a civil wedding at the courthouse soon after you arrive in the States. Then you can have a big wedding ceremony in the church later on.

I think he should recognise that you want a nice, white wedding... maybe try talking about it with him again, and as the other poster mentioned, tell him that you will do all the planning, if he would like. It won't be any extra stress or work on his end. Heck, you never know, he might get really into it :)

i got married 3 weeks after I were in US by k1..we met the judge talked about the ceremony..my sister in law helped me with the invitation for 40 people of my husband family members. we went to a park with nice trees and green grass bring some ribbon, wrapped the tree and stand in front of trees as we vowed as husband and wife.. no chairs,, guests are just standing and it took only 30 min..

when we go to reserved restaurant and have supper together.. the restaurant decorate the venue, very simple table set and my husband bring his big plasma TV and laptop and we play music and photo slide of us on tv..

i did the make up and hair do.. and with some creativity made a small booklet about me and how we met (some information to help me answer all questions from his family because for them i am a total stranger from other part of the world..can you imagine telling the same story over and over again to the big family???)

all of that preparation only took 3 weeks (less) but the invitation was sent a month before I fly to US. not much hustle and money like the traditional wedding but still get good pictures, memories, and good time with family member..

There is number of problems here :

- not sure if you realize how expensive the weddings in US are ? $10k for small wedding with reception is minimum... Are you going to participate in the costs ? He just may not be able to afford it and simply does not know how to tell you this - no man would be comfortable telling his fiancee he is unable to afford something because most of the time he would like to give her everything.

- month is way too little to get everything ready. Nice venues are booked here year in advance. Nice wedding dress is basically 2 months.

- it is a lot of work - I am right now organizing the reception - he may simply have no time to do it anytime soon.

Men don't so weddings well. You may as well give us details about childbirth. My fiance chose the location, I chose the date. She chose the chapel, I chose the hotel. She chose what she wants us both to wear, I decide what car to drive.

So leave the choices to the guy the ones that we can easily make. I can't do foofy no matter how hard I try. That is why we say this is the bride's day. If you are happy, I am happy. Really. I only want my fiance to be happy but I am not a wedding planner. If she is disappointed she will remember it for ever, and I only want her to have good memories of everything.

Take lots of photos. I think a Romanian wedding simply sounds incredible.

I used to dream of a romantic beach wedding but since I have to be practical, I think there's no need for that. It will be too expensive. Me and my fiance will do the same thing. The "drive thru" wedding :)haha. After all, the main reason why I want to marry him is because I love him and not because of what he can give me.

I know what you feel because we have this fairy tale fantasy as a woman but I guess we are grown ups and should see the reality of life. Some people want it to be memorable and others just want to brag about it. You'll be fine. Instead of feeling bad about it, think of activities that you can do together that could be captured by the camera, it's a proof of happy memories too.
