If anyone can shed some light on my status, that would be great?

I had my K-1 visa interview at the US Embassy London on June 5th 2011. The interview went well, nothing was asked of me in addition to the paperwork I provided. I was first seen by an administrator who went through the paperwork I had mailed to the embassy and she confirmed all was OK. I was next seen by an American inteviewer at a second window who again went through the paperwork and asked simple questions like what's your profession. Again nothing was queried and he stated everything is in order.

At the end of about 15 minutes he said they had to do some more administrative processing, and they'll be in contact via the details I have provided. I was given the blue 221-G form with only the box that states Administrative Processing ticked.

Since then I waited 60 days and called the embassy in London to no avail and no details. I've called the processing offices in the US again no details of help. They all give the same answer pending administrative processing. It is now entering the 4th month since the interview and I have no idea how long I have to wait.

Does anyone else have a similar experience?

Sorry about this my friend, but usually you get told on the day of the interview if you passed. Most people get the visa posted out within a week. Did you pay for the posting of your visa. I would suggest emailing or calling again.

So sorry to hear this.... :-/

By any chance, were you born somewhere outside of the UK? Sometimes they do 'extra checks' in those situations.

Thanks everyone, I guess being born outside the UK could mean extra checks. Yet I've been in the UK since 1975 and a fully fledged UK citizen.

It's happened pretty often with people born in India or Pakistan going through London to have additional security checks. There is no way to find out how long or exactly what documents they might be waiting on. It's pretty secretive because it's about security and they can't say something like "your name is the same as somebody we are watching."

Here'a link that explains security checks. It's not specific to fiance visas but the info about the three databases is interesting information and sheds some light on AP delays. http://www2.gtlaw.com/practices/immigration/newsletter/archives/017/item07.htm

Hi Nich-Nick

Thanks for that link and I can see how the Condor check is applicable to me, as I have travelled extensively to many of those countries listed for work and leisure. However, the information on the link states a 30 day resolution and if by 90 days nothing then one should contact the Department Of State.

Do you know any details like address, telephones etc to make contact with?

Your help much appreciated

Hi Buddy sorry to hear about your delay, i was in the exact same situation, i had my interview on April 20th 2011 and I was actualy told i was approved and should receive my visa within a week but there might be a slight delay due to the Royal wedding which was understandable, after waiting 2 weeks or so i called back to check the progress and i was told i was put in AP but they would not say why.

Unfortunately it was just a case of waiting and waiting and on June 1st I got approved, i was worried i was not gonna make my Aug 5th wedding date.

One thing i can suggest doing is getting your fiance/e to write to his/her local Senator who will be able to investigate the delay, this sometimes triggers attention and may speed up the process.

Hope this helps and GOOD LUCK

unless there is something special about the Uk that I dont know if you are in AP the only thing you can do is ak for updates and get senators to make inquires

i feel your pain, we have been in AP since May 26 and im going crazy

Hey Tyeger87,

I am sorry to hear you have been waiting since May 26. A lot of people are recommending contacting senators and the Department of State, have you tried either of these routes and if so what has been the outcome?

Thanks
