MMS would have never been allowed to change had it not been for the Macondo incident. This is common knowledge for everyone who works in the oil industry. I don't know what site you get your information from, but you are sorely misinformed.

And I don't understand how you can claim to be a "libertarian" and then cry about lax regulations.

The regulations weren't lax. The enforcement was what was lax. We're talking about who was 'responsible' here. The FACT of the matter is, is the rig was given a green light to go online by MMS. The moment that happened they assumed at least partial responsibility for what took place.

I'm not arguing about regulations being too strict or too lax, I'm arguing about who's to blame.

British Petroleum. They have all the technology available to them. The MMS doesn't. Nobody in the government does, except perhaps the Navy, or SIO.

Thats like saying that I should be held responsible for selling my house to a guy who was careless enough to burn it down.

I thought you libertarian types hated enforcing regulation just as much regulation itself.

Literacy would do you well. Either that or you are trying to troll.

Again, I'm not talking about how i feel about regulations. I'm talking about who's responsible.

Your analogy doesn't work here at all. The simple fact of the matter is that the rig could not stay online (technically speaking) unless regulatory standards were met and it got the green light from MMS. MMS continually gave that green light, even though blatant safety measures were ignored and/or MMS didn't do its job.
