Hi guys so my fiance has an interview on Sunday. I am so worried that they might not approve his visa because I am unemployed but I have co-sponsor, he is and engineer and currently works in a construction company that pays him really good money. Today he told me that the company found a replacement for his position since he give a notice a month ago. Tomorrow is his last day of work, when he told me that tomorrow is his last day i felt really bad because what if they don't approve his visa and he will be left unemployed. I am so scared. I am praying that hopefully his visa will be approved. Anyways do you guys know about anything that could help me do something so that his visa gets approved?? any ideas??

All you can do is take plenty of proof and be sure of the answers he gives thats it... but here on VJ it's well known that the MENA countries ususally see AP after interview, males especially and you will also see that the advice from all over the vj board to never make plans until you have your visa in hand... but if he is from afghanistan then you may be looking at AP for a couple of months at least. I wish you the best hope that doesnt happen

I second to This. You can only hope he gets approved and after that he still would be on AP.The deed is done,he just shouldnt have resigned prior his interview,i will advice he seeks back his position pending his visa approval.I wont even be resigning after my visa..I just would stop going

Too late for that.

I would have said not to mention a word of this to his employer or anyone that may talk to his employer until the visa was in his hand. I mean, what were you thinking?

Alla gave her notice about 2 minutes after the visa arrived by special delivery which delayed her arrival here by a month (to meet the obligations she had already scheduled with her employer) but it was better than her being an unemployed mother of two, one of which was about to start college.

Hopefully you have done all you can and he will not be put in AP which is often the case in Afghanistan but then you probably knew that. But, since you have provided an affidavit that you can support him here, I would presume it is even cheaper to support him in Afghanistan so no worries.

Good luck

From the U.S. Embassy Kabul website.

Most visa applications in Kabul require an average of 60 to 90 days after the interview for required administrative processing. When processing is complete, the Consular Section will contact you. The Consular Section is open for pickup on Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., and you must bring the visa card that you were given following your interview when you come to pick up your visa. Please note that the Embassy is closed on all U.S. and Afghan holidays as listed here:

The U.S. Embassy strongly recommends that you NOT make travel arrangements before having a visa in your possession. The U.S. Embassy Consular Section accepts no responsibility if you make travel reservations before you have received your visa. We will not expedite visa processing because you have fixed travel dates or have already purchased a ticket.

Thank you all for the replays. To tell you the truth I never knew anything about AP. My fiance is a very honest man and he didn't want to leave his work without giving them a notice, everything seemed so promising and my lawyer kept saying he will be here in like month and giving us all false information. Anyways its too late now, all I can do is pray. Thank you guys again and wish you all a best luck

Your lawyer is an idiot. Imagine my surprise. It would only be giving you false information if he knew the facts, I doubt he does. He is just stupid and doesn't care. He is a lawyer that collects fees from people to fill out forms anyone can fill out...you think he is a brilliant counselor?

Nothing wrong with being honest. Keep your mouth shut, give them a notice when the visa is in your hand and then work until the notice is satisfied. Yes, it delays his arrival. So what?

Good luck

I needed some legal work (unrelated to immigration) filed and called several lawyers, many said "No that is not a possibility, it won't work, you can't do that." But one lawyer took my case and it worked as planned. So you are right, some lawyers know their little strip of information and if you go off the path ever so slightly they are not knowledgeable enough to fight their way out of a paper bag.

So yes, if the lawyer you find is a bit lacking, fire him and get another!

Yes you are right but i cant afford to hire another one and its too late now, I don't need any lawyer anymore. It all depends on the US consulate now. I think they will freaking reschedule his interview AGAIN because of the terrorist attack in Kabul, this is so frustrating :bonk: . Anyways I will keep you guys updated and Good luck to you all..
