Hi,

Just wondering if my parents can come and stay for 2 months at a time every year on GC when once my sponsor for I-131 goes through all aproved and they visit us here in USA?

My father was saying that he heard that someone cancelled GC and got Visitor Visa for 10 years as it has no restrictions on the mimium period of stay in USA when visisting.

True that it prolongs or hinders the US citizenship but thats not a big issue or problem with them and us.

Do let me know. Thanks,

If the CBP notices a pattern of entry that is consistent with visiting and not residing then yes, a GC may be revoked.

Where do they want to live?

Where do they want to live?

Its hard to say right as of now as I have not brought a home yet. But I do want to start the process and get them GC just in case situation demands in the future that they stay in USA permanently. Thanks. Sachinky - Hopefully within 2 years, the pattern will change and not obvious.

A GC requires that they are US permanent residents.

Not sure what your housing situation has to do with anything.

You might also want to look into the cost of health insurance.

the GC is for living in the US, and not to be used as a tourist visa. of course if they find out that the don't live here, immigration will revoke the GC. what do they need the GC for if they aren't living in the US?

NO...you cannot live out of the country for more than 180 days!! period!

An LPR can live outside the US for more than 180 days. An re-entry permit allows a person to be outside the US for up to two years.

An LPR must make the US his permanent home. An LPR who uses his status to live abroad and occasionally visit could be deemed to have abandoned his LPR status.
