So, today marks week 3 of having our packet submitted and confirmed delivery at the London Embassy. I would like to call and get an email code (if I don't hear from our congresswoman today or tomorrow), however, I'm not sure what number to call. On the website it says:

"For Operator Assisted Visa Information call 09042-450100 (this is NOT a London number. It does not require any other prefix or dialling code.)

Service available Monday through Friday, 8.00 a.m. until 9.00 p.m., and on Saturdays from 09.00 a.m. until 4.00 p.m.; £1.23/min plus network extras; only available in the U.K., within U.K. may be unavailable from some business telephones and mobile networks."

So, can you only call the London embassy if you are in the UK? Is there a way to call from the US?? My fiance, of course, can call - but after his last experience of calling and being on hold for 15 minutes and then being disconnected, he's a bit frustrated, so I figured I would call instead if I could.

Thanks :)

Writee-mail. Alays works and they respond promptly. Doesn't cost you a penny. In addition, personnel that answers e-mails is much more knowledgable. Usually, when you call, they take the question and revert to the consular staff and ask you to call again. More expensive and slower. E-mail ALWAYS works.

In order to email the embassy in London you need to have a code which you can only get via calling the extortion line.

I don't know of a number to call from within the U.S. sorry!

I did not know that! Sorry! I did everything through Moscow embassy. This sounds silly that you need a code!! WOW!

Moscow embassy is much easier. You just write an e-mail on the main consular address and they respond within 24 hrs with highly qualified answers. I am sorry for the advice. I guess in Moscow they have more qualified personnel since Cold War. LOL

Look in the menu bar at the top of the page for "Embassy Info". The number is there. It costs $16.00.
