I am asking this in behalf of a friend of mine.

She worked as a caregiver in the UK and it was there that she was affected with TB. She was treated for TB in the UK for a whole year and was cleared, and when she went back to the Philippines, she had continuous check-up at the Lung Center every 6 months. She passed her medical exam because she her lungs are now clear and she had all the documents to prove she was treated.

I know for the forms it asks " have u ever been inflicted with a communicable diesease of public health or a dangerous physical or mental disorder or even been drug abuser or addict? "

I am guessing she should say yes, and then provide a detailed explanation of what happened including treatment, etc? She said that St.Lukes took her documents so it should be in her file.

I am just worried that by her answering yes, they will automatically deem her inadmissible even if she has proof that she is clear of TB?

Hope you can provide good insight in this matter. Thanks!

You answered your question, :yes:

If she answers "no," then she'll be providing false information...with possible subsequent denial of visa.

That question on the DS-156 is very broad. Answering "yes" doesn't automatically mean the alien is inadmissible. It only means they may be inadmissible. As you noted, provide an explanation for why she answered "yes". They'll probably see the scar on her chest x-ray, and they may ask that she do sputum testing to determine if she's currently infected.

12/15/2009 - K1 Visa Interview - APPROVED!

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

Yes. She would need to answer "yes" for having had TB, a communicable disease. But further explain that she was treated, which essentially makes her free from the communicable disease.

Providing her medical/vaccination/TB treatment documentation would strengthen her case.

The only problem I see is that your friend may have to undergo the sputum collection and wait two months for the result of the culture.
