I still think what we ought to do is turn a blind eye to the entire region for one year and then we'll make diplmatic relations with whatever country comes out on top.

That would probably make all sides happy, at least in the beginning. If the US removed all its presence from the area, the Muslim countries would have ousted the Great Satan. Israel would be free to run amok, and bulldoze all the Palestinian lands. The military manufacturers would makes tons of money selling arms to all sides.

By the time the US came back, Israel would be gone. Problem solved.

If that was the case, so would Iran and Syria for starters, and any other nation in the region that lent a hand.

Oh, and the world's oil supply might be a tad radioactive. ;)

Don't interrupt me when I'm talking to myself

As the disclaimers are quick to say, "Past performance is in no way indicative of future performance."

The last time all the countries surrounding Israel attacked worked real well.whistling.gif

The scenario is the US is out of the picture, so who is supposed to be doing all this damage?

Part of history is that countries come and go. Buh bye, Israel.

This appears to contradict your less than relaxed opinion regarding reconstituting Palestine. If indeed countries so casually "come and go" why not just let "Palestine" slip into the dust bin of history?

Israel is concerned because so few nations like them. Why haven't they seen fit to remedy that impediment? Depending on the US and a couple of EU nations for cover is like depending on a broken stick.

You can do that. I prefer to let Israel do that.

We could fix our economy!

I lol'd at this one.

The last time all the countries surrounding Israel attacked worked real well.

Whoops.

Oh, and the world's oil supply might be a tad radioactive. ;)

It would be OK since the radiation wouldn't penetrate too far below ground.

As the disclaimers are quick to say, "Past performance is in no way indicative of future performance."

Yes, because Israel is much weaker than it was back then. They haven't been getting any stronger at all in the past 45 years. Noooooo......

The scenario is the US is out of the picture, so who is supposed to be doing all this damage?

Are you not familiar with the IDF?

I would prefer to see the pro-Palestinian side show some twinkling of interest in themselves. Your comments often seem to prop up exactly what those who oppose Palestinian statehood espouse, that creating a Palestinian state is really more about destroying Israel than bettering the lot of Palestinians.
