My doctor gave me a new script for the pill, a years worth which i thought was rather handy Anywho, now i've just gone and filled i have a couple questions....Who else has done this? am i even allowed to take that much with me? and if i can, do i put it in my hand luggage or my stowed?

When i went over in January i had it in my carry on and nothing ever got said but then that was only one packet

I have taken over a year's worth of the pill from New Zealand to the US and had no problems. I put it in my stowed luggage, my bag happened to be searched at LAX and the agent looked at the pills but said nothing of them.

oh well thats good then I was kinda kinda worried about it, i really don't want to have to get a new script over there, not without health insurance, lol

I hear you, in New Zealand you can get six months of pills for $3 and the family planning clinic consultation fee is about $23. In the US? The Planned Parenthood clinic requires you to have an annual exam costing $165 before they give you a prescription and then the pills cost $20 a month! (without insurance). Ridiculous. I always stock up in New Zealand.

Woahhh, thats heaps! to be honest i never looked up how much it would cost, i just assumed it would cost a ###### tonne, lol. my years worth i got here in Oz only cost me $50

When I was on the pill seems ages ago now always just carried it in my wash bag in suitcase. You will be fine darl just pack it with your toiletries, no issue.

Yeah, you shouldn't have any problems at all. I brought over three or four months worth of birth control because it was so much cheaper in Australia and I carried it in my carry on (because I was afraid of the airport losing my luggage and not having it lol). No problems at all with any of the security screenings.

Make sure you declare it though. While you might not HAVE to declaring it makes sure you won't have any issues. Not medicine related but food related, they asked me if I had anything to declare and I said yes, THAT suitcase.. lol. It was a suitcase with only food in it. Weet-bix, sunny-boys, chocolate, lollies.. le sigh. 56lbs worth. Still have some left (this was back in Nov 10) but some was for other people as well...

Also in case you don't know (and I didn't) anything with codeine is it isn't permitted as it's by prescription here. I called customs before travelling to confirm. They told me if I declared it it would be taken and I wouldn't get into trouble. If I DIDN'T declare it and it was found I was facing a fine and they might detain/arrest me. So not worth it So rule of thumb... declare EVERYTHING so worst case scenario it gets taken.

**Edit - I personally got the Implanon before I left Aus. With medicare and HCC it was $20. It's like $600 here or something. This way I didn't need to mess around with scripts etc. Also, I just found out today you need to have a pap smear done before they give you a new yearly script for BC. Ridiculous.

yeah, i thought of implanon but i just find the pill works really well with me so i might just stick to it i think

I've taken a year's supply before too. As long as it has your name on it you'll be fine. I read somewhere once you should take the actual script too. BTW I heard that it might become free in the US soon IF you have health insurance.

ah, yeah i read somewhere about haveing to take the actual script with other meds but i don't have it anymore cos i filled it all, lol. it has my name on it though

I have been to the US several times for years at a time, and I ALWAYS brought my Australian BC with me. I called customs and they said it wouldnt be a problem, just make sure i had the prescription. I'd never had a problem until the last time I went there. My POE was in San Francisco and the customs officer or whoever he was gave me a really hard time about (He gave me a hard time about a lot of things, and then got super nasty about the birth control). I had my prescription and I had a letter from my Doctor saying that it was for a medical condition but he was still nasty, so finally I talked to his boss and she took one look at it and apologised and waved me on. So just make sure you have a prescription!!! But at the end of the day I think he only gave me a hard time because he was on a power trip.

they do have cadbury over here.. they use to have it in foodlion but now i can only find it at the world market.... and tim tams... they have them too... and vegemite! i love all of them haha.. all they love is peanut butter with everything!! hate peanut butter in chocolate! ruins the chocolate!

The cadbury at world market is from the UK.. it sucks compared to ours (in my opinion). You can get Tim Tams at Target now but they're "Pepperidge Farm" instead of Arnotts. You can get Cadbury (some kinds) at Walmart but again, just not as good as ours!
