You did not naturalize. You got your US citizenship through your parent. You mark "no" to answer "Have you obtained a certificate of citizenship in your own name."

To prove US citizenship, you provide a copy of your unexpired US passport biographical data page.

You never naturalized as a U.S. citizen. You never had to take the Oath of Allegiance, swearing off any and all loyalty to your former country of citizenship. For that reason you don't have a Certificate of Naturalization, and for that reason you are proud to be a Pakistani, instead of being proud to be an American. I'm just curious why you want you mom to come to America, instead of you moving back to the country you love so much?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

The question is, will the USCIS accept her current valid US passport as proof of US citizenship in lieu of having a certificate of naturalization. To the best of my knowledge, kids don't take either the civics test or the oath.

So will the USCIS accept the fact that another agency gave her proof of US citizenship and they are out 600 bucks for the N-600? Really don't know the answer to that, depends on the agent that approves the I-130. From experience, always a battle between our 1,525 different government agencies. Guess you could just try with your US passport and see what happens.

Hope you have patience, been battling the USCIS for seven years now with my stepson, finally got a notice that the USCIS sent the paper work to the NVA, contacted them after waiting a couple of months with updated information. Claim they never received the paperwork from the USCIS. An unmarried kid over 21 has greater priority than a mother. But Obama has a lot more interest in the middle east and Africa than Latin America.

The OP does not need a certificate of citizenship.

Question 13 on the I-130 asks how did the petitioner acquired US citizenship if the petitioner is a US citizen; birth in US, naturalization, or parents.

If a person naturalizes, then he would have a certificate of citizenship.

If a person acquire US citizenship through a US citizen parent under the Child Citizenship Act, there is no requirement to obtain a certificate of citizenship. Listing the certificate of citizenship is only required if the person obtained one. If he did not get a certificate, then the US passport is sufficient to prove US citizenship.

I've attached a screen capture of Question 13.

my parents adopted me from Guatemala ...... i received citizenship because of their USA citizenship....when I filled out the papers for k1 all I did was take copies of every page of my passport and send it as proof of citizenship.

the only thing that could hold you up doing it that way is if you received a ss number before you became a citizen thru your parents and did not change the status on it from resident alien to citizen.

Gee willikers! There's nothing unusual about someone saying "proud to be x" as their home nation. He also says "God bless America;" obviously he has affection for both nations. Unless I am missing something...
