Hi everyone

I am a Canadian. I had my IR-1 interview in Montreal on August 30, 2011. The lady said all my information was complete and she didn't need any additional information from us. She took my fingerprints and swore me in, but then couldn't issue a visa today because additional processing was required. She handed us a 221 white form saying administrative processing was needed, but no additional documents are required. She said it shouldn't take long. I spoke with the Montreal Consulate and they couldn't give me much information on my file or any details about administrative processing. Does anyone know the timeline of administrative processing for Canadians and what it entails. Is there a Canadian who this has happened to with info? I would've called DOS, but it says on the website that they shouldn't be contacted until after 60 days have passed. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Very very few Canadians get AP. Generally they are people who were not born in Canada etc.

You can call DOS anyways you don't have to wait the 60 days.

Your I-129f was approved in 5 days from your NOA1 date.

Your interview took 67 days from your I-129F NOA1 date.

AOS was approved in 2 months and 8 days without interview.

ROC was approved in 3 months and 2 days without interview.

I just wanted to update this for any Canadians that are placed on AP...it will eventually end! Calling DOS was a complete waste of time for me. I never received any information...it was always, "still in AP." I stopped calling after the 3rd time. I did email the consulate and after 2 or 3 weeks, I got the generic response saying that most AP cases are cleared in 90 days, but in some instances it takes months or years. Thankfully, I got the email in 2 1/2 months saying that my passport was being returned to me. I think I was put on AP because of the first time I tried to enter the States (so my child could visit with his grandparents)after I had sent in my I130 application. The customs lady said that she is refusing me for 24 hours because, "she felt like it." She also said that I could try back tomorrow. Needless to say, I didn't. I did try a few months later for a day visit. I was interrogated for 6 hours and they said it was because she "wrote" something bad on my file, but they couldn't discuss it with me. I've never done anything illegal or lied to them so it was a complete shock to me especially after she told me to try back the next day. I had made a formal complaint via a Senator. When I was activating my immigrant visa at the airport, I assumed it would take very long so I showed up 3 hours before my flight took off. The two customs agents were probably by-far one of the NICEST agents I've come across...and I've traveled thousands of times. It took about 20 minutes or less and then I was headed towards security. Any Canadian that is in my position, BE PATIENT, hopefully the time will pass by quickly.
