Fellow Citizens (of the World!):

I received my NOA1 for my I-130 June 27, and filed the I-129F immediately upon receipt. But the realities of the process are so different from what I imagined! I thought that since I am a US citizen born and raised (in fact my Mom could be in the DAR if she wanted to, yes my Great-great-great-whatever-grandmother was on the Mayflower), my government would just stamp my wife's visa right there in Moscow and say "of course, wife of our good citizen, please please, come in! Welcome!" and instead there is this beaurocratic nightmare where government workers reject applcations for little typos or not using black ink or whatever else they can find. I hope and pray that my application does not fall into the hands on such a person. Please be a nice one! My app was tight, I am no idiot and included evertyhing they asked for, right down the line, and emails, and receipts, and pictures from different seasons, and letters from my friends and her friends and my mother and... wait. and wait. and Igor's timeline moves so slowly. And why, why, why must I wait months to be with my wife! We skype every day and that helps and I visit her but why are we, US citizens, subjected to this? It is a nightmare! I am so afraid that I will get an RFE for some inconsequential B.S. I know she and her son will come, we are neither of us criminals or neither did we lie about any small detail. And the lawyers I spoke with were so arogant and wanted thousands of my dollars. I did not hire anyone and simply did it myself.

I guess I just need to vent and get a little moral support for you folks who are going through the same process. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!

I am sorry but all USC get treated the same way. My husband served this country in the US army for 26 years( 2 tours in Iraq) Kuwait and we certainly did not get any special treatment at all . Neither of us had a criminal record nothing but we had to wait just like everyone else. Be patient it will happen soon.

Your list of evidence of how 'American' you are is of no consequence.

Just remember that these rules are there to protect the citizens of your country.

I hope your wife's journey is relatively swift and easy.

Certainly it will be easier and less time consuming than your immigrant great-great grand whatever's journey.

He was trying for K-3 visa - you have to send NOA1 of I-130 together with I-129f. Doesn't work in most cases as when both petitions are approved and arrive on the same day to NVC, NVC administratively closes I-129f and lets I-130 through for CR-1 visa.

What's wrong with filing an I-129F for his wife? He's doing a K-3 visa ( I assume as that's the forum he's posting in) It's a longer process (says everyone on here) but for some of us a k-3 is the only option. I filed I-130 and I-129F for my husband because there is no way in hell I am going to Kenya to get an IR-1/CR-1. (Mauritius doesn't do IR/CR visas)

June 2007: Met

Dec 2007: I moved to Mauritius!

February 2008: Nikkah

June 2008: Legal Marriage

September 2008: Our son is born

Living Happily until we decide it's time to move...

July 26 2011: Mail packets with I-130 and I-129F forms to my mother for her to post from the US.

Aug 8 2011: Packet received by Mom

Aug 9 2011: I-130 mailed to Chicago Lockbox

Aug 11 2011: Email recv'd advising I-130 received, case number received

Initial Review Status Sent to California Service Centre

Aug 16 2011: Check cashed

Aug 22, 2011 NOA 1 for I-130 recv'd (hard copy)

Aug 23, 2011 Sent I-129F packet to Texas

Sep 02, 2011 NOA 1 for I-129F recv'd via email (USCIS.gov says they recv'd it on Aug 26, 2011)

Let the waiting begin...

Sep 06, 2011 Touch (adding I-129F to USCIS case tracker online I assume)

March 06, 2012 NOA2 recvd via email for I-129F and I-130 :D (also switched to ir-1)

April 3, 2012: Paid fee for AOS with CEAC...

Took us a while to get civil documents together because I failed to notice that the police certificate needed to be sent in :(

May 18, 2012: Paid IV Bill

Aug 7, 2012 INTERVIEW @ NAIROBI!--APPROVED!!!

Sept 3, 2012 POE @ Minneapolis

Yes, it was for K-3, I was following instructions on the USCIS website, this site, other sites, and the advice of immigration attorneys. As another poster said, if they are approved simultaneously it converts from K-3 to CR-1.

Helen, not sure what the snippy, lecturing tone is about. My grandmother was not a whatever, her name was Priscilla Alden. I have travelled to Scotland and found the people quite nice; you are evidently an exception. The rules may be there to protect us, but the procedures are draconian, redundant, and executed inefficiently. Meanwhile thousands cross into our country every month with no permission whatsoever. Where is the greater risk?

Hopefully you and your whatever are having a nice time wherever it is that you are, doing whatever it is that you came here to do. Enjoy the fruits of my ancestors!

Just to make you feel better , my family also goes all the way back through American history, mayflower , salem witch trails, the american revolution, the civil war ( even have read the original letters written by the solder to his wife ) and have worked for 30+ years at companies who are all about keeping America safe and I not only had to wait once, but got denied and had to wait twice. So much for the immigration process giving a cr-p about "Americans"

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
