NVC Waiting Dance, getting ready for AOS

I'm into the second week of my post NOA2 to NVC Number assignment wait. In the mean time, I am working on/strategizing my AOS. It is/will be problematic, as I have no income, and am relying 100% on joint sponsor. My question is this: worst case, do they ever outright turn down (at Guangzhou level) a Visa for AOS issues? Or, is it always at least a Blue Slip for more information and/or sponsorship?

P.S. Welcome back Darnell. I was a little concerned when I didn't see you on the boards for a couple of weeks. Noticed you traveling around the xR1/K1 Forums yesterday.

many college students have no real monies to show as the primary sponser - GUZ IV is used to seeing this - I wouldn't worry about it so much, as to focus, instead, on COMPLETENESS of things for NVC intake.

Good Luck !!

Sometimes my language usage seems confusing - please feel free to 'read it twice', just in case !

Point well taken and will do. However, my situation is a little unique in that I'm WAY older than college age, and have not worked in last few years taking care of disabled Mom. I plan on being SUPER Complete with NVC, and see no problem with them. But, I'm also curious, if the GUZ Gods look unkindly at my stuation, am I looking at possible rejection or just Blue?

Yes, and I have been/will continue to follow your good advice. :-) My question now (which we didn't discuss) is what is the WORST CASE at the consulate? I will pass all the 'technical' requirements and get NVC Approval for my AOS with no problem. However, GUZ, as we all know, is capricious Do they ever deny/return petitions over financial issues (can they even do that after it AOS passes NVC)? Or are financial issues always presented as 'Blue'?

Generally speaking, based on embassy reviews that I've read here, at CFL and CFV,

Financial picture is not the sole reason for denial.

A blue slip may be issued if the financial picture is not complete, especially on the the co-sponser / joint-sponser.

I've not read anything about an outright denial based solely on lack of info for the financial picture.

I hope that was clear.

Clear, and what I wanted to hear.

One other question comes to mind. A friend has a company. He could give me a 'job' paying about $500/week. If I go this route, I would only have several weeks pay stubs, and employment letter. Still no tax returns (no work) for last 3 years. For my friend to do this would be a substantial imposition. I only want to do this if it would make a BIG difference. Either way, my Mom will file as joint sponsor, with income/assets over the requirements for family of three. Would this 'last minute'/very recent employment make a substantial differance in the confidence of passing Guangzhou?
