Hi, I am a Canadian visiting the US. I was told that I can stay for up to 6 months at a time, but when I return to Canada after the 6 months how long do I have to wait before I can visit again? I cannot seem to find much information on this anywhere.

I think the wait is 30 days? If you leave and come back, you can be flagged.

Just a question.. are you actually on a tourist visa, or did you just enter? Without the proper visa, you're only able to stay for 90 days.

I just entered... I didnt think Canadians needed a tourist visa, I thought we were able to stay up to 6 months without one.

I hope so because I have already been here past 90 days... I hope this is not going to be a problem for me in the future since I was planning on another visit (though not as long) in the new year.

Put yourself in the position of CBP. Why is this Canadian entering for six months leaving for a week and then coming back?

What did they stamp in your passport?

Oh no, it isnt like that. I will be back in Canada for a few months, and the next stay wouldnt be near as long. I do see what you mean though.

The stamp on my passport only shows the day I entered... which I thought was weird because I thought it should have more information than that.

As long as you aren't coming here to live, work or study you shouldn't have a problem.

I don't see anything about a length of time between visits.

Thanks for your help I am just here checking out the west coast, the plan for next year was east coast. I have never been out of Canada so I got myself into a panic not wanting to do anything wrong.

If you have questions you can always call and ask the Canadian embassies in the US. They know the US laws just as well (or better) than the State Department.

Be sure to check out North Carolina (Outter Banks).
