Tim Pawlenty Endorses Mitt Romney for President

"Mitt Romney is fighting for the same things I fought for as governor and during my campaign for president," said Governor Pawlenty. "As a former blue state governor, I appreciate what Mitt was able to do in Massachusetts. He created jobs and balanced his budgets without raising taxes – even with an over eighty percent Democrat legislature."

"That ability to get things done is what we need in our nominee," said Governor Pawlenty. "In addition, he has a background which is unmatched – his understanding of the private sector proves he knows how jobs are created which will be critical in turning our economy around. I am proud to endorse his candidacy for president of the United States."

Probably time to reverse my bet against Romney.

Why? Looks like Perry is gonna win and then get slaughtered by Obama.

Perry Still Running Away with the GOP Primary in New Poll

Remember what Jon Stewart noted about Rick Perry's post-debate instinctive appeal to Republicans? It went something like: Mitt Romney's chart-based wonkery won't hold a candle to the inexplicable, magnetic pull of the Perry one-liner. The Texas governor is still leading in the latest tally by CNN/Opinion Research, which has him leading with 32 percent, well ahead of second-place Romney's 21 percent. Libertarian darling Ron Paul is the only other candidate in double digits, at 13 percent, while Michele Bachmann, who had been surging in the summer, is now tied for fourth place with Newt Gingrich at 7 percent.

The reason for the preference for Perry looks pretty clear from the poll: Republican primary voters want someone who can beat Barack Obama, and Perry's tops on that list. According to CNN, 42 percent of voters leaning toward the GOP think he's got the best shot of beating Obama in a head-to-head match up compared with 26 percent who like Romney.

I'm still trying to figure out why we're trying to figure out who's going to get the nomination right now... We're still 11 months away. At this time back in '07 everyone thought Hillary had it locked up and look how that turned out...

No one is getting 'slaughtered' by that ####### in the white house though.

Tim Pawlenty endorsement isn't a huge deal, Sarah Palin's will be, to whoever gets it. Or who knows maybe she enters the fray in the next few weeks...

None of the current Republicans, except Ron Paul, has shown me that they will change anything. Obama is terrible, there's no doubt about that, but so was Bush. I'll have to check the Constitution or Libertarian Party and see who they're going to run in the election, maybe try and get one of those parties enough votes to get federal funding in the 2016 race.

Yup. It will tell everyone who NOT to vote for!

Like or hate her. She attended Bachmann re-election events and she helped Perry in the Texas GOP primary. They both won...

I am a Ron Paul supporter in case you have the idea I want her in it. She does know how to fire up the base though. Which is what gets you support, but unfortunately is not what your candidate ends up doing once in power, he/she helps out the big businesses and corporate cronies ;)

He was Texas vs. Washington (Kay Bailey). It wasn't hard for him to get the nomination. Palin didn't make a difference.

She knows how to whip the deluded social conservatives into a frenzy, and that is where her political influence ends. Nobody beyond that narrow group takes anything she says seriously.

She's nothing like Ron Paul. She has no principles.

She lobbied for the Wall Street bailout package (with old man McCain) and later lobbied for the stimulus package.

This straight from the Cato Institute:

In the “give me my pork” camp are governors Sarah Palin, Charlie Crist, and Tim Pawlenty. Palin, darling of many “movement” conservatives came all the way to Washington to lobby for the bill.

And this quote (about the bailouts) is from her own book ("Going Rogue", page 270):

The House of Representatives rejected a Bush-backed economic bailout plan in a vote in which two-thirds of Republicans voted no. The impression this made on the electorate was not helpful to our cause. Millions of Americans were poised to go bankrupt or lose their savings, and the perception was that Republicans had failed to respond.
