Hi,

Thailand's address structure is as follows as I understand it:

House Number and Street

Sub-District (tambon)

District (amphur)

Province, Zip Code

Country

All of the address fields on the G-325a (and I'm assuming others) ask for an address in this way, the US standard:

House Number and Street

City, State

Zip Code

Country

Everything maps pretty logically (Province -> State being the only leap of faith) but that leaves two fields - Sub-District and District - on a Thai address to be converted to one field - City - on the US standard.

How should this conversion be done?

The G-325a asks what City my wife was born in. Assuming her birth certificate shows the District and Sub-District she was born, which one should I use for City? Should I just pick one and use it consistently throughout the process? Would hate to be rejected for something as silly as this.

Thanks,

Scott

Additionally, it doesn't leave enough spaces to completely fill in a Thai address. So I have started to answer address questions on a supplemental page, which I will include with our application.

But in some cases a supplemental page won't solve the problem. Like in my example where in the G-325a the City my wife was

born in is asked for. I don't know if I should use District or Sub-District?

To make it even more interesting, Sub-Districts are further divided into Villages! A person's Village would be included in the House Number and Street part of the Thai address.

In my wife's case:

Village: Moo Ban Ting Rai

Sub-District: Koh Sriboya

District: Neuah Khlong

So if I am asked with "City" my wife was born in the answer is I don't know! If anyone knows if the USCIS or Embassy prefers one of the three I'd appreciate it.

Just do your best to fit it in. I wrote it in with black pen. I think they only use it to send out Packet 3, which never arrives anyway, you can download the forms online from the embassy.

As for the city she was born, all the birth registries are done at the Amphur level, so go with that one.
