Hi guys,

I am trying to prepare for form DS-230 and a bit confused at the wording of this question.

DS-230 is filled by Beneficiary so in Question 14-17. It's asking for Spouse's information.

My q's: Is it asking about the petitioner's name & info? in this case US Citizen's petitioner's info?

If so, then In Question #31a, What do i put? Petitioner's name? (if the Petitioner goes to Beneficiary's country for support during Interview and come back together).

Thanks in Advance

Hi,

Question #14-17: Petitioner

Question #31A: Petitioner

#31A n #31B is the same name (petitioner), because will be and follow with you in USA.

Remember this form is for Beneficiary, therefore, this info is about wife/husband´s beneficiary.

Question #31A: Petitioner

#31A n #31B is the same name (petitioner), because will be and follow with you in USA.

Incorrect as it relates to the OP's question. For the purpose of that question, accompany or follow means is who is immigrating with the beneficiary, a US Citizen or US LPR petitioner would not be immigrating with the beneficiary.

OP: Questions 14-17 would be the petitioner's information

Question #31 (a and b) the answer would be "none" even if the petitioner and beneficiary come to the US together after the interview, the petitioner is not immigrating.

Only the beneficiary submits a DS-230, not the petitioner. So the information that is completed on the DS-230 is about the beneficiary.

Only Beneficiary files the DS-230.

Beneficiary Fills the DS-230 Part 1 and Part 2.

But the Beneficiary only singes DS-230 Part 1.

I think you should read this, it helped understand quite a bit.

Ryan is right, fill in the petitioner in question 14, because a spouse is a spouse. But 31a really means the person who will accompany to immigrate to the USA together, thus put in none.

but my husband is in turkey, can I sign for him? or he needs to sign it . I am going to turkey next month I am trying to get as much paperwork done as possible

What we did about sign papers... I filled out and sign all, and sent them to my wife. Colombia-USA only take 9 days.
