Dear all,

We are anticipating that police clearance is required for submission to NVC. I worked/stayed for a year in Australia in 2007-2008, do i really need to present one to NVC? I have been residing here in the Phils since i arrived from Sydney. Need help!

yes, u need PC from Australia too.. one of my close friend resides AUS on student visa for 1 year n UK on Work visa for 1 year.. but he didnt submit PCC from OZ and UK..

NVC send RFE to submit PCC from OZ and UK... so be quick .. n aply for OZ PCC.

This link here: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/fiance_niv_appl.html (scroll to the bottom) explains when you would need a police cert (it's a table). You'll see "if lived in another country for more than 12 months" you do need one.

Here is the link to apply for it: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/obtain_police_cert.html

Can anybody cite where USCIS asks for a police clearance? Under which circumstances? Some posts are 6 months, and some are writing 12 months....

Thanks!

Here: http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html scroll down to see the table.

From the Australian site: http://canberra.usembassy.gov/fiance_niv_appl.html scroll down to Police Certificates.

Though the information in the table is the same (time wise) there is more info written on the Aussie one.. I just prefer it :)

Ok, I'm really confused....nowhere on the K-1 guide does it say that if you lived abroad (I am an American and I worked abroad for 7 months) that you have to send in a police record from abroad (for me, France).

Also, the link you sent me says that we both have to send in our birth certificates but the guides only say that the American petitioner has to send it in....

Help!!!!

Yep, that's at the Visa stage. The US petitioner doesn't need to worry about that stuff. The immigrant does.
