anything that brings discord into the home is a serious matter

Any examples where a cheating husband was stoned? There are plenty of examples for cheating wives. Apparently the punishing of the men is not quite so prominent which is why it must have escaped my memory.

So, then, if a man has more than one wife (clearly an option in some places under Islamic law), how is that not cheating and why does that guy not get whipped or killed. Furthermore, why can't a woman have a couple husbands?

I'm sorry but even though both me and my husband are muslim, i would never accept him bringing another woman into our family! That would seem to me anyway that i wasn't good enough for him. I would divorce him on the spot! (another thing about Islamic law, all you have to do is say outloud 'i divorce you' and you are no longer religiously married)

anyway, my husband has already given me permission to beat the sh*t out of him and leave him if i ever caught him cheating on me....its a mutual understanding.....

Good same here, got it all worked out ahead of time,(not get it dumped on you) read the Nikah cert. grounds for able to go and get a divorce should be listed a head of time, just cant go down town and say not married..

Just trying to figure this out.

One man, multiple women: Legal under Islamic law. (maybe not feasible for many anymore but legal nonetheless)

One woman, multiple men: Illegal under Islamic law.

Haven't quite figured out how this creation thing plays into this inequality (unless Allah created multiple women for the man which I'm not sure the "book" really gives that).

Well cheating is defined as having sex outside of marriage, and the husband gives the second wife the same

things in life in as the first...his marriage is recognized as a marriage etc.

No one is forcing these women to stay married to their husband if he chooses a second wife.

I personally don't think polygamy is made for everyone but I do know some families that

work good with it for decades an all.

The reason women cannot have more than one husband is there was no way

of telling who is the father (of course not counting recent times), which can lead to further problems in inheritance etc.
