I have a quick question. My buddy married his girlfriend who has a 6 year old kid. Will the kid be required to go to the interview when they are called?

05/19/2011 Petitions disptached.

05/23/2011 Checks cashed.

06/06/2011 Acceptance letter received.

06/06/2011 Biometrics appointment notice received in mail.

06/23/2011 Biometrics appointment completed.

06/24/2011 I765 and I485 status successfully pulled up.

06/30/2011 I765 case status touched!

07/13/2011 I765 and I485 status touched!

07/20/2011 Interview scheduled for 08/25

07/29/2011 EAD card in hand.

08/01/2011 SSN applied and CA ID applied.

08/07/2011 CA ID received and Driver's Permit received.

08/15/2011 CA Driving test passed with no errors and "Good Driver" comment received.

08/25/2011 Interview @ 10:15 no decision on the spot and was requested a document asap.

08/25/2011 After my lawyer faxed the doc Green Card Production ordered with an hour and a half after the interview.

08/30/2011 2nd notification for Green Card production received.

08/30/2011 WELCOME TO THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA notice received in the mail.

09/02/2011 Green Card in hand and done till 2013!

04/02/2012 Shipped to BCT with the US ARMY.

04/18/2012 Naturalization Interview @ Fort Jackson.

06/14/2012. Citizenship Certificate received.

But the kid is too young. How will her saying anything would be of any relevance. ? But the only reason they dont want her to go is that she is too young.

She has to have a medical and a visa interview to get her visa.

The child can talk - so is not too young. The kid will need to be interviewed to obtain a benefit. It's not up to the parents to decide who is too young or not. They have to comply with the interview requirement.

Can you please clarify? Is your buddy's new wife and child currently in the US, or are they in another country? Are they applying for green cards or visas?

05/01/2013 - Removal of Conditions - APPROVED!

My buddy's wife is a US Citizen and has a daughter from her ex husband. She is going to file AOS for my friend. Will the kid also be involved during the whole process? The only concern is the interview, will the daughter also have to go along and talk?

If the child is the child of the USC, and therefore isn't be petitioned for anything, she won't need to go to the interview. They'll probably ask about his relationship with his step-child, though.

No then she won't need to (if she were an immigrant as well she would). Sounds to me like the child doesn't like your friend... not a good thing.

Sounds to me like the child doesn't like your friend... not a good thing.

The only thing is she doesn't call him dad! And neither does friends wants to force her.

So that was my only concern.
