Reheard that story of those two guys that escaped, both had to travel 40 miles to work, on the top floor, just to sit in front of a PC! I can do that at home. Architects agree, these skyscrapers are the most expensive foolish inefficient structures that could ever be built. Seems strange to me, that people should jam themselves like ants in such a building, but tall translates to a symbol of power. But can also be like that king of the hill game we played as kids. No one can be the king of the hill, one guy could never handle 50 no matter how big or tall he was.

In watching Discovery Science on this new building, first its a rush job to get it done, one floor per week. An old building axiom applies, never time to do it right the first time, always time to do it right the second. And apparently, somebody is expecting to be hit again, the construction details reveal this fact with a three foot thick center housing for the elevators and stairs. Building is not really floor efficient as the older towers, rental space will be astronomically higher. And is going to be the tallest building in the world at 1726 feet. Its like saying, I am the biggest and tallest, see if you can knock me down!

Always thought I had a fear of heights in these things, knees would get weak when in them and couldn't wait to get out. But in my own plane could circle the John Hancock a thousand feet just like sitting in my recliner at home. Or climb a mountain without the least bit of fear. Then I realized I am claustrophobic and feel trapped in these things. And wonder why people expose themselves to this danger, they are trapped.

In Wisconsin, live close to two parallel state east west highways, forty miles long and twenty miles apart. When head south, looking for any kind of road that cuts through. Was one gravel road, but not worth it with wear and tear on the car, so have to drive around it. In that one section, 8,000 square miles of untouched land and with plenty of fresh water. This is only one insignificant example. So why are people jamming themselves into extremely tight spaces, no parking, huge time spent in going to and from work or school, when we have billions of acres of unused land in this country?

Or spending well over two million for a small condo, but it has a view. Have over three times that space at a small fraction of that cost and my view is nature, can't beat that for a view. Did live 40 miles from Chicago and was spending as much as eight hours a day commuting, didn't take me long to reason, there had to be a better way.

So whats with this new WTC building? A double dare? I am the king of the hill, see if you can knock me down? They said the older buildings did consider being hit by an aircraft, and really doesn't have to be one with terrorists in it, but didn't plan for larger faster aircraft. Didn't see that considered in the new design, talking about thousand passenger aircraft today. And does Irene have a much larger sister?

First thing I was taught in our military, when attacked, spread out, too bad most of the planners of these buildings weren't in our military. Just feel this entire concept is crazy and just begging for more problems. Right or wrong, just my worthless, meaningless, opinion. Also avoided vendors in these large buildings, certainly not the value, a good share of their price was paying for their rent.

25 percent of it has already been rented out, and it hasn't even been built yet!

Hmm, well first its not the tallest in the world. The Burj Khalifa is the current record holder. I think generally designers and planners HAVE responded, in that skyscrapers are not being built in any large number anymore. The World Trade Center is different though, I think a majority of Americans would agree that it had to be rebuilt.

Now with regards to post 9/11 design as a whole - look at this:
