What I thought it would do, however, is point out that a military vet with experience "over there" would have more of an inside look at the situation that some random Briton on VJ.

Not all military vets agree with you, so I wouldn't assume that yours is the popular opinion among service personnel. For instance I seem to recall Rumsfeld got blasted at a press conference in Iraq in 2004 about the equipment troops had to work with and again by generals about failures in military and strategic planning.

From what I understand, his decisions contributed to the insurgency taking hold in Iraq. But hell, i guess I should take the comments from some guy on VJ who wants to present himself as the voice of the troops over countless documentary evidence in the media.

You realise of course this does nothing to explain why people should take your alleged experiences over those of others who served who say contrary things.

The faults of the media notwithstanding, criticism against the war, the bush (and now Obama) administration and uncle Rummy is pretty well established. You might not like that, but there you go.

I don't care what people want to believe. What I do know is I have first-hand experience and you have what you saw on TV.

It's not difficult for the media to find someone who supports their position. But, I can tell you MY position. You don't have to believe it if you don't want to.
