Yes, I too agree with you. We shall decide by early next week. Let us do something in addition to keep praying :)

Here is the response from NVC to my inquiry email. I did send to visabulletin@state.gov as well. Please let me know the address or person to meet in Washington DC to drop a hard copy of our request.

Dear Sir/Madam:

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

Thank you for the information. This message will be forwarded to the appropriate department.

Immigrant visa processing is governed by the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) of 1952, as amended, which controls priority dates and the number of immigrant visas that can be issued under certain preference categories. To establish which petitions are eligible for visas, the Department of State issues a monthly publication called the Visa Bulletin.

The Visa Bulletin provides a list of cut-off dates that are used to ensure the number of immigrant visas issued each year does not exceed the legal limit established in the INA. Cut-off dates are categorized by foreign state of chargeability and preference category. Only a petition with a priority date that is earlier than the cut-off date is eligible for a visa and consular processing.

Additional questions regarding Visa Bulletin related items may be submitted to the following email address: visabulletin@state.gov

Sincerely,

Sarah

Hey, I asked several times what is the address and contact person to give our request in person. I live in DC. You are more worried about sending emails that will help but we should give them a hard copy too. Think about that

great job and thanks for doing this. WE ALL should send as many emails/ letters to them as possible. Actually WE REALLY REALLY REALLY need MEDIA attention. Not many in the general population is aware of our situation. Once the apathy of the F2A visa category issue comes to light more people AND organizations will come to help. Many people will write to their senators and lawmakers. AND action will be taken fast. Just like the case in Dallas TX few months back when an ILLEGAL bangladeshi student was deported because of his status. But since the news media was broadcasting his story MANY MANY people came forward to help this student EVEN THOUGH he was ILLEGAL. THAT too in the republican stronghold state of TX.

WE REALLY NEED MEDIA ATTENTION. I encourage each and everyone to write to the newspapers or even local news channels since ours is a different issue in immigration NOT i repeat NOT related to ILLEGAl IMMIGRATION, WE WILL get a lot of support from families, women, and familial organizations and even some church groups.

IMHO, the one congress woman who is active or atleast shows support to legal immigration is Zoe Lofgren. If anyone is targeting to meet with someone in DC(now that the house is in session after a month long recess), then my choice would be Congresswoman Zoe. She is also a part of House Immigration committee which needs to approve any changes to the laws concerning immigration if it is going to be tabled on the house floor. Her address in DC

Washington, D.C. Office

1401 Longworth HOB

Washington, D.C. 20515

Telephone (202) 225-3072

I am sure one needs to schedule an appointment in prior. I have sent email and hard copy letters on the F2A issue before and personally haven't had any communication back other than acknowledgment in this regard.

Quite funny, but thats exactly what Colbert's show is supposed to be. I still feel she is one of the few congress woman who at least has shown constant action in sponsoring /cosponsoring bills that support family unity in making the spouses of permanent residents to be reclassified as immediate relatives, that excuses the applicants of F2A visas from the numerical quotas. If there is a better person in congress or otherwise who can help the cause of F2A visa seekers, I am interested to know as well.

Here's another sample template letter than be used, courtesy of unitefamilies.org

Your name

Your address

Your city, state, zip code

phone: Your phone number

email: Your email address

The Honorable Congressman/woman/Senator Legislator's Name

Legislator's address

Legislator's state, zip code

Dear Congressperson/Senator name,

Subject: excessive (over five year) delays for permanent residents to be united with their foreign spouse.

I am a lawful permanent resident of the United States. Unfortunately, due to annual numerical limits on the spouse/children of permanent resident immigrant visa, I have been separated from my spouse since marriage and from my children during their formative years. We have been waiting for the visas for several years.

The foreign spouse/children of a permanent resident have to wait outside the country until his/her immigrant visa is approved. This takes in excess of five years. Temporary visas are available to the spouse of U.S. citizens (K visa) and non-immigrants (e.g., H-4), however, there is no such provision for the spouse of a permanent resident.

I urge you to support legislation to end family separation. This will allow me to be united with my family. I will not have to choose between country and family.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

your signature (in case of mail/fax)
