Yep it's about the marriage, not so much about the wedding!

with the civil wedding, i heard it can take many weeks until you get the certified marriage certificate from the day of civil?

so i can't submit my AOS the next working day after the civil?

Got married Sunday, took the certificate down to the county house Monday, walked out with the certified copies.

BTW.. civil surgeon took all of 30 minutes to do the I-693 and no hassle about another physical.

oh really? i wonder different states have different rules.

Are you in CA? Iam.

You had wedding on Sunday? i thought civil weddings (in city hall or county offices) can only happen Mon-Fri. Weekend ones has to be in a church by a pastor.

The civil surgeon is not regulated by the state as to the requirements, I have read on here, even in Arizona where we are, of civil surgeons "requiring" another physical before they will transcribe the vaccination records to jack up the fees, but this place was good only transcribed the records to the I-693 then sealed in it an envelope and we were done.

As for the wedding, Arizona has "officiants" that can marry a couple, they are individuals that get licensed to perform that service, CA may have them too just do a search on the NET.

Heck even got the SSI done quickly, Monday we got certified copies of the marriage certificate, Tuesday we went to SSI and the card arrived yesterday (Saturday) that is only 4 days.

That's a great place to get married! The commissioner married us at the rotunda (we didn't ask for it, it was available), that is just gorgeous and very romantic. I didn't expect my civil wedding to be so memorable like it was. :) In SF, you need to wait 10 days after the ceremony to order your certified copies of marriage certificate. 10 days after, that was a saturday for us, we asked them online (the vitalcheck website, there's a $5 additional fee) on Monday because you need to have your request notarized (if you ask by mail too)... that was pretty quick for us to do that, and we received the copies the following friday. So yeah, it took a little more than 2 weeks. If you live close to SF, you can go in person and have them right after 10 days, that's the fastest way. :)

Thanks! Yeah, looks like the MC is often the last missing doc before sending AOS. Congrats on your upcoming wedding. :)
