I know her. Regardless of your (not YOU personally, Sarah, but the responders in general) speculations and personal judgements she is in a lot of pain and confusion and this didn't help. She left the forum.

Why? Because people stopped telling her what she wanted to hear?

There are times one has to look at what one is being told and whether one likes it or not, it's time to smell the bacon burning.

This reminds me of something I say to myself whenever I'm getting information from people that I don't particularly like. "Well rebecca - everybody else can't be wrong - maybe you are the one that's wrong!'

Her confusion might be helped if somebody pointed her in that direction. If she won't listen to us then maybe she would listen to a friend.

Tell eEbecca what she's won!

oh and Just Waiting....if you're such a friend of hers...shame on you for not telling her what we have! Instead you wanna sit here and chastise everyone for not bein all lollies and gumdrops. Grow a thicker skin if you think this thread's bad...because you're enabling a bad situation that COULD COMPLETELY CHANGE if certain action was taken.

You're doing this visa thing...you know the drill. And a REAL friend will tell you what you don't want to hear...because you NEED to hear it. Instead you wanna play emotional guard dog on this thread and tell us all when we're being awful (which we're not)....SHEESH!

Yes, my tone is cut and dry...but the things YOU'VE accused people on this thread...is ridiculous. We;re all adults here...but we certainly don't need to sing 'I love you...you love me' in order to get along.

Yes, you have the right to say whatever you want, as do I...

Shame on me? Ha ha ha. You guys are a riot.

LisaD's right. It is not appropriate in this case to protect this girl from what she NEEDS to hear, i.e. the truth regarding her situation. I am still a little shocked that they even bothered to make the application since they were so clearly going to be denied, and what everyone else has said is true...she is wasting her time and money on a lawyer when what she SHOULD be doing is getting her butt over to Egypt and meeting this man face to face. I completely, 100% agree with the USCIS's policy of denying K1 visas to people who have not met. It's common sense, and it's a good policy.

I don't hear a lot of love...all I hear is whining and excuses, and I'm not impressed. Part of loving someone is sacrificing for them, not making excuses as to why you can't get on a plane. Even my stepmother-in-law, wheelchair-bound with MS, can get on a plane. I vomit in fear before I get on airplanes but I dragged my butt onto one to attend my brother's wedding. You can do things like that when your love for someone outweighs the excuses and bullsh1t. I have been terrified of flying for a decade, but I still got on a plane several times a year to visit the UK to see my now-husband. I didn't make excuses. I didn't ask for special favors. I just did what I had to do. I think the UK would have laughed me out the door if I had asked for a fiancee visa without having met my husband, and rightfully so. I don't mean to sound unsympathetic but those are the rules, and don't forget we're talking about someone who plans to marry a man she has never met, which to me is deeply unwise.

Jabree needs to be told the truth, not a bunch of sugarcoated 'I'm praying for you, oh sweetie I know this is haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaard' garbage. If you care about her, you'll stop protecting her and tell her what she needs to do to turn this situation around, i.e. follow the advice of the very people YOU ARE ATTACKING.

That is all.

This is precisely what I'm talking about. Flights to Europe is so cheap as compared to flights to many other parts of the world. People who think it's so easy to visit SOs in foreign countries have a very simplistic view of the world when they only know of European travelling.

And yet so many here manage it regardless......

I suppose I get pissy when you keep harping on about how much easier it is for Euro/US couples to buy the tickets for their visits....it is still a lot of money! Many of these couples also struggle to find the airfare y'know. My last ticket to the US cost $900..... I can imagine that is hardly a breeze to find for many ppl actually. You seem to have a simplistic view of european travel if anything because you don't know everyone's fiancial situation....

I disagree!! I dont have a simplistic view either! I lived in the Uk!

I think it is easy as hell for European couples. tickets are dirt cheap! infact you will find a dayum

good deal so easy. lets not talk about the fact you dont have to buy a visa either.

paksitan visa for example is $120.00. for 2 months roughly. add that to your 900.00 round trip

you have a bargain. oh and travel-o-crappy has deals for Europe all the time.

you both right....how silly of me.....the expense of travelling is nothing to us.

The funny thing is this thread is 7 pages long now and the OP has not come back to say one word. I don't get why someone would make a post regarding such a serious thing and not comment?

I know. Do the phrases 'insecure' and 'starved for attention' spring to mind?

That would accurately describe the behavior. She didn't like the advice in the earlier thread and asked to have the thread closed and then opened a continuation thread.

I didn't want to say this before, being a newbie and all...but something just doesn't feel right about all this. It's just too...I dunno. Too dramatic.

Let's not forget future trips to visit family. I've been saving vacation time all year and putting money aside for the trip. We will be going for a month at the end of the year. We expect the trip to cost $6000.

I can't believe all the judging and speculations here without facts about jabree's case. Has anyone considered that the denial was the result of the evidence submitted or lack of evidence submitted to prove the hardship? Apealing the decision with the right evidence could be her best option. Yes waivers are rare, but they are there for legitimate reasons and no one here but Jabree reallys knows if she has the evidence to receive the exemption.

I've talked with Jabree. I think she let everyone know aboutthe denail because so many people here were cheering for her approval. She originally stated she didn't want to discuss the denial, but her heart is generous and I think she was persuaded by the argument that her case could help others. But eh moment she started to talk about the reasons for denial, some posters just jumped on this and started giving advice that may not be relevant. Listening, offering support and asking questions would have been a better line of thought for this thread.

This thread doesn't help anyone- not Jabree, not anyone in the process, and certainly not anyone about to submit a petition.

Exactly the point made earlier--why start it if no information is going to be supplied that will be of help to anyone.

Exactly. If a person cannot afford airfare for even ONE VISIT, how will you afford it in the future? Is your SO never going to see their family again?

There's a LOAD of factors to take into consideration in these relationship - in fact now that I'm on the 'other side of the fence' it's my opinion that getting the visa itself is the least of these. There's a whole lot of life left over after the 'visa journey' is over.
