It costs this person $2000 USD to fly to Australia from the US during peak seasons to visit his/her SO.

This is precisely what I'm talking about. Flights to Europe is so cheap as compared to flights to many other parts of the world. People who think it's so easy to visit SOs in foreign countries have a very simplistic view of the world when they only know of European travelling.

Most people here are traveling to the Middle East or North Africa which is expensive also. It cost me 1600$ last summer to fly to Morocco.

I'm sorry for Jabree, but Rebecca said something really crucial here. If Fiona and Andre managed to meet each other and overcome all obstacles, why can't others do the same?

Whatever reason was it that the OP filed for hardship, they were denied, so they must either overcome the hardship or get REALLY lucky in the appeal. I've read the appeals on USCIS and I've yet to see one that was good enough to change USCIS's decision.

My suggestion is, overcome the hardship, and file again.

That would be my contention but someone else on here claims it's dirt cheap to fly from Europe to Egypt.

Hey, no one said this was a piece of cake. You want everything to be easy? Marry a fellow American. *not that there's anything wrong with that btw, as all of our partners will be doing that, lol*

You want to marry someone halfway around the world? Go MEET that person. Plane tix/fear/blah de blah...how anyone could contemplate marrying a physical stranger is beyond me.

As far as 'oh but the tix is so much'? Ya wanna play. ya hafta pay

Goodluck and goodnight!

The funny thing is this thread is 7 pages long now and the OP has not come back to say one word. I don't get why someone would make a post regarding such a serious thing and not comment?

I think everyone here is on the same page. I can't think of many hardships that would prevent you from meeting the person you want to marry. Let's face it, there are many things we personally consider a hardship but the USCIS could give a rats a##. Also given the amount of scrutiny in the Middle East right now, I would think it would be even harder over there.

I know. Do the phrases 'insecure' and 'starved for attention' spring to mind?

To,

Everyone who was interested in our case being denied... (L)

I retained an attorney to appeal our case this morning . Of course, there are NO guarantees of an approval.

We felt it was our only recourse at this point, so this is where we are at as of right now.

We want to thank those who sent us PM's and were concerned, and also those who posted encouraging words in my recent thread, and the many prayers that went out to us out of brotherly/sisterly love.

There had been some questions concerning this denial. I can tell you that when we filed , we filed under a hardship. I do not want people thinking their case will be denied because ours was. Each case, as we all know, is different in it's own right.

Keep us in your prayers, it is going to be a rough road ahead.

God Bless you all ! (F)

Jabree and Hitham

I am sorry to tell you that you will not succeed and will spend money on a wasted effort with the lawyer. Please read from the link below and think about possible ways to physically meet.

http://www.uscis.gov/graphics/lawsregs/adm...c3/d6/index.htm

Good luck and take care, Marilyn and Peter.

Oh wow, OUCH...those letters are so cold.

It is dirt cheap to fly to Egypt from the UK, and since you allege it's SO cheap to fly from the US to Europe, surely even adding the two together would not be unsurmountable. So, she could visit him there or he could travel to a European country and they could meet there.

I'm not buying the hardship thing; sorry.
