Downtown Vancouver hotels

I've been researching hotels located near the consulate and clinic in Vancouver, and Hotwire seems to have a few interesting-looking "unnamed surprise" listings.

When I investigate the details of downtown hotels, tho, it seems like parking is very limited and on a "first come, first parked" basis. Is parking hard to find/prohibitively expensive in the downtown area, midweek?

My fiance will be meeting me there, so I would love to find a somewhat luxurious place befitting our celebration! And likely we will each have a vehicle.

I lived in Van for a year and yes parking downtown was always scarce! If you can find a spot I think it might be around 30 bucks a day (this was according to a VJ consulate review I read recently). I would expect for some of the higher end hotels that they would definitely have room for your vehicle.

So far from the reviews on Van consulate I've heard a few people recommend the Days Inn (cheap and closeby) and one person stayed at the Sandman Suites on Davie. I booked the Sandman Suites yesterday and am quite excited to stay there. The trip advisor reviews are pretty good, and it has a full kitchen with living area. It's a little pricey but they had a sale going on for 130-140 per night so I booked it through RBC travel points. The nice thing is that it's walking distance from both the consulate and clinic.
