Wait, so you're done, but you think it should be made harder for people in the future than it was for you?

So do you feel it should of been harder for you? Would you have preferred that?

I would like to see (180 days) instead of the 90 days myself.

I met my future wife through the internet dating service, and met her many times over the year.

The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) reports that “…marriages arranged through [mail order bride] services would appear to have a lower divorce rate than the nation as a whole, fully 80 percent of these marriages having lasted over the years for which reports are available.” The USCIS also reports that “… mail-order bride and e-mail correspondence services result in 4,000 to 6,000 marriages between U.S. men and foreign brides each year.”

And now im home waiting to be back together.. As for the 90 days, yes i agree with you an extension would be nice there to give people more time to plan a big ceremony!

Why? You have listed no good reasons. All you did was make up some statistics.

I'm sorry, you have to realize you're a part of a forum full of people still going through the process and still finding it very difficult, stressful and emotionally draining. To have someone who is finished come on and say for no good reason that the process should be made even MORE difficult is a bit of a slap in the face, I imagine.

Good Post.

The OP contradicts himself by saying it should be tougher and than at the end says the process is tough. Which is it?

Making up some statistics without any credible evidence to back it up it quite erroneous as well.

Breakdown the word assume...you get my point. Post some legit facts and cite them to back up your claim.

I agree with the extension of 180 days. In the US, it's quite difficult to plan an average wedding in that time. 90 days, good lord your asking for an overload of work to throw a decent wedding in that amount of time!

I am not wondering that the process is really hard. The worst part of it, while waiting for AP, even NOA2; you have no idea what will be the result. After this long process, waiting almost 4 weeks for the AP at the embassy is more than frustrating. What really annoys me is a lady or a guy paid from my tax and sitting in a nice office, decided who and when I should have to marry. The thing is I just want to state that there are a lot of people their life is on halt waiting and waiting and waiting for the USCIS, NVC, and USE. Mine is almost on pause at least for a year. I hope my fiancée will push the play button at the POE very soon; when……… that is what I don't know. But it is in the good wish of the officer that sits behind those windows.

Good Luck.

i think the income requirements should be higher to marry because this is not a cheap process. Supporting family is expensive in USA. Some people make a little money and save a lot. Some people make a lot of money and save none. Both these people could qualify. I think people need to love themselves and value themselves before they can love another person. I think any people choosing to get married need to be able to depend on each other to be provided for. I think 18000 is not enough money to live in most of USA. In Egypt I would be rich!! I think if you love someone then you try and make sure you can provide for them.

I am against co-sponsers. If you cannot afford a spouse then do not get one right now. Love will not pay your bills. Love will not fee the children. I think co-sponsors place responsibility onto a kind hearted person and in the usa at least 40% of marriage fail. This is very dangerous for the kind co-sponsor who just wanted to help a couple in love be together.

I think everyone needs to meet in person many times. Not just once within 2 years. I think it should be 3 times in 2 years.

But, I think this process needs to be quicker once all those rules are in place. I feel the 6 month wait for uscis is a waste of my time and money...and I value both. I pay for a service today and I want that service delivered soon. I do not want it to sit in a pile waiting for someone to decide to pick it up. It takes an hour to go thru a completed packet and approved it. USCIS needs to have higher productivity levels or get new employees. Many people need jobs right now and I bet if they advertised work from home positions many of our foreigner spouses would excel in this area. Since we have all been thru this nad know how important it is then I believe we would work hard and quick to approve or deny cases. I believe uscis should have a salary tier. If you complete 7 applications in one day you will get 140 dollars. if you complete 10 in one day then you will get 200 dollars. if you are only able to complete 1 in a day then you do not get paid till you have a day over 7. I think people would work much harder if they know they will get 20 bucks for each completed application (and that is denied or approved).

Hmm...so what about culturally based marriages? Like mine for example...it was arranged. What do you say about that?
