So - as of today our packet three is still not logged. It will be 3 weeks on Tuesday since we have confirmation of receipt!

I spoke to my congresswoman on Wednesday. She said she spoke to a "contact" at DOS and told her to wait until the 3 week mark and if we still haven't been logged to email the embassy. So, she will be emailing London on Tuesday to see what's up.

My question: If they cannot find our packet three, which seems to be happening quite a bit lately, what are our next steps? How do we insure that the next time we send it (we will send it out asap once we have notice that they do not have it) that it will not get lost AGAIN?! Also - does this mean that we have to wait another 2-3 weeks for them to log it?

Seriously, I'm just worried at this point that they will lose it AGAIN...

I just feel so frustrated that it's even a possibility that they could have lost it the first time...

I honestly don't think it's "lost", It just seems London are taking this amount of time to get interview dates out recently (myself included) I wouldn't panic too much.

 Get the email code and hang in there.

Bigdog: I'm not sure what " return receipt" is...we sent it by Royal Post 1 day delivery w/ delivery confirmation - is that the same?

Sunshine Times: Ooo I hope you're right! We tried to get the email code on Thursday, but after 15 minutes on the hotline Allan got disconnected. He was so grumpy about getting disconnected for a call that would cost him almost 20 pounds, I decided to see if the congresswoman could do anything. So, if we don't hear from her by Wednesday/Thursday I will have him call and get the email code again. She said she has a special "congressional email" that typically is answered pretty fast.

Here's hoping. It's just hard to sit and wait patiently with a smile on my face when there is no guarantee they have it yet. I'd happily wait weeks upon weeks (okay, maybe not happily but surely I wouldn't be worried/stressed) if the embassy just acknowledged our paperwork!! Lol

Have your medical results been at the embassy for that long too? It often seems that until the medical results are also received, they may not make the computer entries for anything. If it was signed for, you know it got there. But it may be sitting in a file waiting for all the pieces before they enter data. What date do you estimate they received your medical results (4 days after appt)?

They do say in the FAQs... During this period, we regret we cannot provide information on the status of the application or confirm if the forms have been received. That may be because nobody is going to run to the file room and look, but yours is probably safely there. Have hope, especially if the medical hasn't been there 2 weeks also.

Nich-Nick - oooh thank you! I didn't realize they waited to have both, I was under the impression that the logged the medical and the packet 3 separately.

About the medical - some type of results should be there on Monday (He had his medical on Tuesday). However, the doctor needed to do additional blood work b/c Allan had lived in/visited multiple "high risk" countries during his military years. So - he is having Allan return on the 27th to receive the results and give him the final 3 immunizations he needs. The doctor assured him that this would not have an impact on his ability to be "interview ready" - so we are assuming they will send some kind of results from the medical now - and the rest at the end of the month. Have you ever heard of this? Will they send them separately?

It's all a guess how they do it and it varies. But I have often seen thinks kick in and fall together once all the pieces are there.

I've never heard of that before. There's only one set of forms for the medical, so they either send them now OR wait until they have all the info they want on them, I would guess. If it's visa related then I think they would wait. If it's just for his personal health info and won't be given to the embassy then maybe that part is done. A call to Knightsbridge could confirm if they sent anything this week. They are very nice when you call. If they don't send until later, then the good news is his shots will be recorded and he won't have to worry about a civil surgeon in the US. Well that's IF he told them he had chickenpox because I don't know that they do varicella shots.

PS. Your congresswoman's email may force them to go look for your file, but until your medical answers are sorted, it doesn't get you any closer to an interview. I'd figure out that part Monday by calling Knightsbridge.

That's what we thought. Both of us were certain that they just told him it would slow us down so he didn't get upset. Lol I have a good feeling that they will have held onto his paperwork, because if it was only for his personal health, then why would they require a second appointment (Btw - they are making him pay the appointment fee again for the follow-up appointment!) . I will have him call on Monday morning, as it should have been sent by then.

Thanks again!

The embassy in london wont send out packet 4 or schedule an interview until all medical details are received and your case is marked interview ready. Keep bugging dos and they will inform you when your packet is logged.

We sent our packet 3 to London and there was no record of it. We were about to start a trace but in 20 days they found it. I think you are right on the cusp of them finding it or not. Don't forget holidays, I am sure 9/11 was probably a skeleton staff and 9/5 was a US holiday. I'd give it this week.

Rugby - Yeah, I'm not expecting packet 4 yet - I just want them to log actually having my packet three!!

Aorobert - My congresswoman was supposed to email them today if nothing was logged (which it wasn't). I will follow up with her tomorrow. I just don't know how long it will take London to reply to her email. She said she had a congressional email - so perhaps that will make them a bit faster at replying?? If we don't hear anything by the end of the week then we will start getting everything ready to send out - again - but my question is - how do we make sure they don't lose the second package too!? We had delivery confirmation on the first one, and apparently, that didn't do much good!!!

I'm in a pretty foul mood over this tonight...
