hi there potsy! we have a lawyer too! Your lawyer gets a copy of all documents sent to you by the USCIS. What you get is a personal copy and a duplicate copy is received by your lawyer. So that means that your lawyer gets all communication too. =)

If you check your status online and read through the notice online, biometrics is usually done 30 days after NOA. The appointment letter comes 2 weeks before the said biometrics appointment date. I'm surprised that a lot of people get it earlier...

Really? I'm glad I found somebody who filed just like I did! :) I moved to a different city but same state and only 15mins away from our old address. And I changed our address on post office online a day before I gave my new address to my lawyer.

In case mine got lost, my lawyer will get the copy uninterrupted right?

Absolutely! I already inquired last month that to get an ssn, what we need is EAD (applicable to people on AOS) :yes:

I got my SSN with just my K-1, I didn't need an EAD. Whoever told you that is misinformed and you should go check with someone else!

June 7, 2010 - Will asked me to marry him, and I said YES!!
October 4, 2010 - Will sent away the I-129F Petition
October 12, 2010 - NOA1 received!
October 15, 2010 - First "touch"
October 18, 2010 - Second "touch"
March 7, 2011 - NOA2!!!
March 18, 2011 - NVC forwarded our case to the Montreal Consulate....NOT where we wanted it to go!
March 25, 2011 - Email from Montreal saying that our case would be forwarded to Vancouver - only took one night for a reply from them smile.png
April 5, 2011 - Vancouver has our package!
April 6, 2011 - Received Packet 3 via email - now just waiting on my police certificate.
April 13, 2011 - faxed Packet 3 to Vancouver
April 14, 2011 - received Packet 4 via email
May 4, 2011 - Medical appointment

I somehow missed that I was supposed to send in proof of my sponsers legal status in the US. So I had to send copies of birth certificates and passports. totally my fault! haha

That works! I really thank you for your positive attitude. I hope o get it soon, I am praying all of this will be over with by December. I don't want to miss the deadline for signing up for college :/ although I heard you can take out a SSN with the EAD?

You can get a SSN without the EAD if you came on a K1 Visa . You can apply for one-- 2 weeks after arriving in the Usa .

-400 CITIZENSHIP TIMELINE

01-17-2015 = N-400 packet sent (to P.O. Box Dallas via USPS Priority Mail)
01-21-2015 = N-400 packet delivered
01/25/2015 = E confirmation / Text received

01/26/2015 = Check cashed .

02/02/2015 = NOA1 received (Priority Date 01/21/2015)
02/09/2015 = Biometrics Letter received .

02/18/2015 = Biometrics

02/20/2015 = In line for interview

04/10/2015 = Interview Letter received .

05/11/2015 =Interview .

05/11/2015 = Passed Interview
07/01/2015 = Oath letter received
07/24/2015 = Oath Cerememony

Yep... You have to get a form from the usps for your change of address and forward it to them just in case you still dont get your other mails...regarding the lawyer, he gets all copies from uscis.. So i suggest you keep in touch with him. Hope this helps... :)

Im on H4 visa and we are not allowed to work because it is ablanket petition for a non working visa holder... the social security officer assured me that when i get my ead, i can get my ssn right away. :)

Ah sorry! So far in this process everyone I've shared experience with has been K-1 visa, so I have to remember that not everyone here has the same requirements as me :)

And, either way, the k1 doesn't apply to me, I've been in the US since 2002, and I came on a tourist visa, my dad is petitioning for me.

AlinaH, sorry for me asking one more time about RFE... but im here through K-1 visa too and we got RFE about adding more information about joint sponsor :wacko: but i totally cant understand which exact papers they want from us! Im so disapointed.... :crying:

We didnt send them either proving of our sponsor's US.citizenship.... i thought may be you could help me to get what they want....im so worried :blush:

Hey no problem! At the bottom of the RFE letter, there should be a list of documents that they want you to send them. How about you send me what they said, and that will help out more :). If it's just proof of their status, then I would send in copies of their birth certificates and/or passports.
