Ben received his EAD/AP combo card last night in the mail :thumbs: So happy...but I do have a question (tried to look here, but couldn't find what I was looking for)...The card expires in one year...even after AOS is approved and we receive the green card...do we "still" have to reapply for EAD/AP before this current card expires???:blink: Any feedback would be most appreciated. I apologize if this answer exists somewhere :)

Ben and Jill, I asked that same question to the IO the day I had my interview and she told me once I receive the GC you should not use the EAD/AP anymore because the GC will be good for work and travel. So there is no need to reapply for EAD/AP once you get AOS approved.

I am adjusting from a B2

Yes, we will definitely have a thread while going through ROC together...that works for me. :D

Congrats, Im not sure if your case is any different than mine but as I understand, your ead/ap becomes useless after you receive your green card.

Your ead allows you to work. Your AP allows you to leave and re-enter the US (as long as you did NOT overstay). Your Green Card allows you to do both of these things (even if you had previously overstayed).

Thank u u u u so much AussieBC and vickybranson...I just wasn't too sure about that. I didn't think we had anymore paperwork after AOS (until ROC), but you never know with this process, so I just wanted to be sure. Thanks, that helps a lot. So now, we are just waitng for AOS to be done...and God willing, hope it will be soon. Thanks! :):)

Please tell me if this is normal.

Expecting AP any day now. NOA1 date 2011-09-28. The AP was sent together with the AOS and EAD. AOS interview is on 12/12, but we were expecting our AP to arrive before thanksgiving and make Christmas vacation arrangements as soon as possible. For some reason the AP is not getting approved (at least I do not see any updates on the USCIS site). Shall I call USCIS and ask what is going on? How many september filers got their AP?

I'm a Sept. filer too. The date on my NOA was 2011-09-27 (a day earlier than yours). My case is still under initial review. I received no other news or update since my walk-in biometrics, which was on Oct. 7. So, I don't know if this is normal waiting time but I can only assume it is..

ivana we are a bit more lucky. our AOS interview is in 2 weeks, so there is some movement and the USCIS website reflects that. However the AP and EAD are stuck in the initial review. I do not mind calling the USCIS and asking what is taking so long, but I begin to suspect USCIS flagged our case for some reason. Not sure we are called for the interview, but perhaps the interview is required for the AP to get approved. But then, you do not have the interview, right?

We were guessing why we were selected for the interview and the only reason I can think of is that we did not submit any evidence with the initial AOS package. Were we required to do so? Or may be there is something else?

Also, we have 3 interviews: the wife and 2 kids. Based on the appointment time it seems there will be three interviews. What questions will the kids (9 and 12 yo) be asked?

Hi mishab. We did submit evidence in our package. We sent photos (not many...maybe 5-7 photos total), a previous home lease on our names, a bank account that we had just opened with both our names on it and an affidavit written by my husband's mom. Timelines differ from person to person and case to case. The fact that you didn't submit any initial evidence may be a reason why they're calling you for an interview (or it may just be that your case is just moving faster). As far as the children, I really don't know what they will be asked. It may be good to call them and inquire on the reason why your AP/EAD have not been approved.

We don't even have an interview appt. set up...so we are still waiting on any possible update. Good luck to you!

I dont know about whether or not you should be getting an interview but it is QUITE COMMON for EAD/AP to be in initial review even after you have received your interview notice. 60 days seems to be the quickest people are getting their EAD/AP notifications but it can take as long as 90 days. You may call after 75 days. Mine came around day 70.

I certainly would not try to stop you from trying to figure out what your ead/ap case status is, but it is no cause for you to be worried yet.

I received my EAD (didn't apply for ap) 3 days AFTER i was approved for AOS. How useless is that?

Question for the AOS interview - if I previously submitted I-864 with all the supports and between that application and my interview, my husband switched jobs, do I need to bring an updated I-864 for my interview?

Thanks!

Thanks!

KT and Xyrena, my husband switched jobs one week before our interview and we didn´t bring another I-864, we just brought a letter from his new employer saying when he started his new job, how many hours he works, and his salary and the IO said that was enough and thank us. I hope this helps.

I just only submitted our marriage certificate as evidence in our AOS. My POE was on Sep 2 and we just married on Sep 15. Our interview will be on Dec 22 and I have got notification of my EAD and AP on Nov 23.

Timeline of everyone may differ from each other due to certain reason, I think. Your case may be same to those who got their AP and EAD together with their GC approval. You will get it on time. No worry... just be prepare for your interview. :)

Thank you so much! I was thinking of just bringing his new employment contract that indicates his salary and start date. Very helpful!

I called USCIS and asked when the AP and EAD card will be reviewed / updated. They said the case is under review. at 3 PM PST I got an email stating that AP is approved and EAD is orderd. :hehe:
