***** Moving from US Embassy to CR-1 forum *****

The visa is only good to enter the USA.

The greencard you get from the CR-1 visa will be a 2 year greencard.

It can take a couple of months to get the physical greencard; a stamp (=endorsment) on the visa psge of your passport will make that page a temp greencard for a year, allowing you to travel and work, so you don't have to wait until the physical greencard arrives.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

I am a little confuse about what i saw on my Visa...it read upon endorsement serves as a temporary I-551evidencing permanent residence for 1 year. I am confused since i read here that CR1 is good for 2 yrs. please i need and input. Thanks for your help.

Nope, the Cr-1 visa is a one time entry visa. The stamp you get in your passport will work as your temporary green card until you get yours in the mail

no need to use the CR-1 visa again

Good luck

It doesn't matter in your case since you have already entered the US, but the CR-1 itself has an expiration date, and you MUST enter the US before it expires. It is normally the lesser of six months or the expiration of the medical exam, and it's right on the visa, so there should be no question when the CR-1 /IR-1 expires
