I was speaking with a friend today and he said a co-sponsor needs to live near where we will live when my fiancee gets here. My co-sponsor lives in Salt Lake, and I'm in Boise......What's the protocol????

Thanks,

Tye

It doesn't matter where they live. A co-sponsor can be any USC or LPR with US based income.

My Immigration Journey:

K1: June 2010 - December 2010

AOS: April 2011 - June 2011

ROC: April 2013 - August 2013

Naturalization: March 2014 - August 2014

Your friend is wrong.

The co-sponsor needs to be a US citizen or legal resident, if a citizen they do not even have to live in the USA.

Sort of. They need to be a citizen or LPR but do not have to have ANY income IF they have enough assets, and the income can be from any source as long as it shows up on a tax return or they have some other way to prove it.
