Hi i would like to know if i can just copy the my 2010 taxes at home or do we have to send tax transcripts????

Copies of your returns prove you filled them out. Transcripts prove you filed. Transcripts are best. Free from IRS by fax, mail or from your local office.

You can print out a form at irs.gov and fax them the request. Should receive them in a week or two.

or you can just try to order them online from the IRS sit.

http://www.irs.gov/individuals/article/0,,id=232168,00.html

click on "Order a Transcript" under number 3. it takes about 5 to 10days for you to get the transcripts....

I'm not sure what you mean by regular tax returns and "business side". If he filed separate tax returns for his business then those won't be considered. His business isn't sponsoring you. Only his personal income tax return will be considered. If he's self-employed then there would be a section of the transcript for his schedule C declarations related to his business income and expenses. Maybe that's what you're referring to.

They look at the "total income" line. On a 1040 form, it's line 22. However, the lines aren't numbered on an IRS transcript, so you would be looking for the line marked "TOTAL INCOME".

Yes, Mr Jim is right.

If someone is sponsoring you the USCIS consider his personal income only not the business.

The income should be 125% above the poverty line.

It is like this (your brother + his wife)+ (the beneficiary(YOU)+ Your wife)

If your brother have children then you have to include his kids also.

Not in every case which is why they ask for transcripts. In Thailand for example one members case was denied when he submitted what you indicate. He spent a lot of time getting transcripts submitted. They found he had a tax lien which had to be paid before they would issue the visa. Why take the chance the officer will reject the tax info?
