Hello All,

When I first visited this site in February 2011. I found the wonderful K-1 GUIDELINES. I was thrilled because prior to that the process looked daunting. I found that the K-1 guidelines stated that you should include an affidavit of support as well as proof of an ongoing relationship. I printed all of this information out and carried it around on a flash drive and gathered everything. Just recently I checked them again and none of this is required now. Did it change or am I going crazy? Thanks!

Nothing has changed. Affidavit of Support and proof of ongoing relationship are still needed at the consulate stage (interview).

Yup, its still the same, but the inicial I-129f packet does not require that affadavit, its later on when there is a interview with the foreign consulate along with proof ( pictures, call records, emails, boarding passes ) of ongoing relationship. The way I see it, the more proof you have the better off you are.

Included in what? You do not include an affidavit of support and proof of ongoing relationship in the petition (I-129f) package buy you do include them in the documentation given to the consulate at the interview. That has not changed.

Thanks! I guess I thought you included them at the initial stage - the first submission.

A while ago, like I know 4 years ago, it was standard to include the I-134 with the I-129F.

Well I don't know some websites, lawyers etc were saying it cause I got the info way back when from the web. Lawyers told you to do it before the existence of VJ. Ok whatever, but anyway they get approved either way.

VJ has been around for a lot longer than four years... This is proof that lawyers are clueless

No. That was never necessary. Some people do though I have yet to see a case where it actually made any difference. The affidavit would have to be renewed in any case.

True but USCIS and lawyers were around way before the web and all you would have had is the G-325A and I-129F instructions which would have told you to fill out the I-134.

P.S. Oops I should have said the INS not USCIS was around before the web.
