Hi

So I have my K1 interview in London on 23rd September - woohoo!!!

Now Im being a good girl and getting all my paper work together, but I've hit a wall with the affidavit issues.

On the Embassy website when Im looking down the checklist of what I need, I click the 1-864 link to the affidavit of support page. As I read it states that an I-864 is NOT required when aplying for a Fiancee visa (needed at AOS).

Therefore do I need to take an affidavit at all???

We submitted a I-134 at packet 3 stage...... I am taking all of Packet 3 with me, but just copies of the forms, not signed or not accompanying info (like my Fiances proof of earnings that go with the form - we submitted originals)

Help!

Thanks in advance :-)

Having up to date proof of employment is generally a good idea. It would be very frustrating to be given a blue slip to request info that can be brought to the interview in case it is needed.

This page on the London embassy website has good info regarding the affidavit of support >>> http://london.usembassy.gov/faffidavit.html

They tell you on the website not to send any documents to the embassy. Bring them to to interview. Hopefully they will have your documents and proofs filed in your folder. Yes, the I-134 is the correct affidavit of support for a K1 visa. When the document lady looks all frustrated that you didn't bring your required docs, tell her to look through your file for them.

Before returning the Notification of Applicant Readiness, Form DS-2001 to

the Immigrant Visa Unit, you are required to assemble all of the documents required

in support of your application.
Note:
These documents

must not be mailed to the Embassy; you will be required to furnish the original of all

documents and one copy on the day of the formal visa interview.

Thanks Nich-Nick but still confused.

As I have already submitted a I-134 within my packet 3, do I need to prepare a duplicate of the whole thing (inc all my finacee's financial information and get him to SIGN the form) to take with me. Or can I tell her to look in the Packet 3 file?

And that copy and paste you added from the website - I read that as all teh forms I mailled for Packet 3, I wasnt supposed to and will need to present tham all on the day of interview too?

I do have copies of everything, the only thing I would need to do is get my finacee to sign and post me documents that he had to sign.

And what is the point of sending it in as Packet 3 if you need to reproduce it at the interview?!?!?!?

Ok so I have just called the Embassy and they said i wasnt suppoed to send in the I-134 in with packet 3 - but I did.

what is the odds that they wont have it at interview. I will take a copy of the whole thing, I need to get everything reissued inc Finaces proof (letter from employer, bank statments, etc) - shall I go to these lengths?!?!?!?!?!?

Sorry I didn't see your further question yesterday. Maybe your confusion is over terms--

Forms= DS-xxxx (mail)

Documents= birth certificate, police cert, divorce decree, proofs of income, etc. (take to interview)

I think the London embassy just doesn't want to be responsible for your original documents or have them get lost in the mail. Nobody evaluates them until you are sitting with the interviewer so they aren't needed ahead of time. They have you bring to the interview and ask you to bring photocopies as well. That way they can look at the original, file the photocopy, and hand you back your originals.

I think your chances are good that your documents are in the file along with you forms. You're not the first to have misunderstood. And one of the DS forms says to attach documents which is a commonly asked question---"The form says send docs and London says don't. What do I do?" The answer is follow how you embassy wants to collect things because they all do it differently.

The first time you are called to a window at the embassy they collect your documents and photocopies. One lady tends to be abrupt or seem in a bad mood. She'll ask for your passport, birth certificate, I-134/proof of income, etc. That's when you politely say "I made a mistake and sent them with my application forms. Will you look through my file for them?" Don't worry about her or her mood. She's a paper organizer and will not interview you or decide if your visa gets approved.

If you have time to re-gather all the documents, then sure for "just in case", but they are probably(99%) in the file.
