Folks, who are scheduled for medical test either in Hyderabad or Chennai just to make sure to carry the following documents.

Original Appointment Letter(It is nice 2 carry atleast 2 copies)

Original Passport

Copy of Passport(first page-biographic data and last 2 pages of passport)

Three passport size photos

Medical test fees.

Note: The usual cost range is up to RS 6500 and beyond. Just an advise that try to carry excessive cash becuase they may even ask you to take extra vaccinations. You never know.

I am trying to book my tickets to reach Chennai on 10/24 - a day before interview. We will stay at Chennai till 10/27 or 10/28 to collect passport and visa packet from VFS, Chennai (we have train tickets booked for both days).

Also taking the risk of booking return jouney tickets for both of us on 10/30 from Hyderabad. Do you think it is risky and whether I need to give more time. I request those who had been to Chennai to guide me regarding getting the passport and Visa at VFS, Chennai.

[Chennai interview process looks a little different. Since Delhi bound guys got 221G, we would like you to please clarify the following to remove our confusion - we appreciate your input.

What time did you finish your interview? - around 4.00 p.m,time assigned 1.00 p.m

Did your interview email ask you to submit any documents? Did it mention anything about VFS? no,it didnot ask me to submit anything

Did you submit the Medical Results at the US Consulate and after interview were you asked to submit that while paying the courier fee at VFS?- he submitted medical reports during interview in the counsulate and that's it.

Did you collect the passport on the day or 1 day after the interview? 1 day after, because when we got to the Vfs after interview it was already 4.30or so,otherwise also, you can only collect it after they send you a SMS,that states you can come and collect the passport, that will come the next day or so.

feel free to ask me any more questions?

Thanks GOD CAN DO IT.

Wife's interview is at 1 pm on 10/25 and 10/26 is holiday, so booked two sets of train tickets for 10/27 & 10/28 to Hyderabad, hoping to get the passport and visa in hand. We both will reach Chennai (I am starting here on 10/22 by BA) on 10/24. If we are lucky on 10/25, we will fly on 10/26 to Hyderabad. Since I have limited leave due to my new job after graduation, I booked my return ticket and one way ticket for wife for 10/30. We are trusting the Lord who has always been good to us.

Can you please let me know how I can get an SMS from VFS on my wife's cell phone! Appreciate your help.

Folks who are scheduled for their medical test in Hyderabad, I wanted to share this information. My wife did call Vijaya Diagnostic Center to find out whether Dr Raj Kumar Songa is available on Saturdays and they said medical tests usually conduct Monday through Friday. Since her medical test is scheduled on 09/23 which is Friday, she has to return to on Monday again to take vaccination and collect medical report from them.

Our marriage certificate shows her married name but her passport and immigration applications it still showing as maiden name. Do you guys think consular officer might raise this issue during her interview? I mean questions like, " why your marriage certificate shows married name(which is my last name) but passport and immigration applications" shows as maiden name as your last name?

Even in the future she decided not to change her maiden name. Will that be a problem or she needs to go back to marriage registrar ofice in India prior to interview and get an updated marriage certificate with her maiden name?

Please advise us!

Not a problem, as long as the name on the Visa application name matches the name on the Passport. If it were an issue, you would have got a RFE from USCIS where you first sent a copy of your marraige with I-130 application with different surnames.

i am trying to go this week in india. but NVC ask me about statement so i call my Agent let her know about it i am not going this week just look for it after Sep 30th. i hold it i don't booked until i am not sure about my case. also if you wana go before her interview so i think you need to go before 24th. if you go from here 24th so gone be there at 25th. booked your ticket 22nd or 23rd of oct.

Thanks Jazz88 for the caution. But our is a calculated risk and we are trusting the Lord.

I have 2 weeks of vacation and I am planning to use 1 week just to be there at interview to provide the best evidence of continuing relationship (wife will make sure that I am waiting outside).

I don't foresee any isses with my AOS packet (I earn very high salary and provided employment letter with salary thereon & latest pay stubs) and I have one issue with IV packet as wife's Kuwait PCC is expiring on 10/2/2011(Kuwait PCC is valid for 3 months), so we are getting one on 10/03 and will submit it with courier fee at VFS on 10/10/2011. And I have lot of evidence as proof of continuing relationship - telephone log, wife as beneficiary on my Insurance, primary beneficiary on my 401K and secondary beneficiary on my father's 401K, joint lease of partment in US, facebook comments, my I-130 has affidavits from parents from both sides and a few other relatives......

Folks,

I wanted to update you about my wife's 1st day medical test which happened today. She reached by 9AM exactly. At reception desk she was asked to pay RS1000. On her 1st day, doctor Raj Kumar Songa is not available. It was his assistant who took my wife's height, weight, heart rate, blood pressure and blood test followed by chest X-ray. They said they will call my wife this evening and let her know about her next appointment.

Her next appointment will be with Dr. Raj Kumar Songa and on that day she will be given vaccination and a sealed envelope. IF there is a serious health problem or abnormatliy then they will discuss with my wife. Otherwise they will give her sealed envelope. On this particular day she has to pay additional Rs5000-Rs6000 which includes vaccinations. In conclusion she ended up paying no more than RS7000.

She specifically asked when will be the next appointmement and they said they cannot really say when it will be. I am hoping it should be next week and either ways she will hear from them by this evening. They will only acccept CASH and do not accept credit/debit cards. So please carry cash only.
