They are more like Q&A sessions than debates, where your answers have to be short and sweet. I think Oscar winners get more time to talk....

We haven't had a REAL 'debate' in this country in probably 30 years. That is part of the bigger problem we have here in the country today in electing our leaders. The media controls the message and who gets nominated.

There is a lot of truth to your post, these debates are really "sound bite" moments.

I definitely agree.

The previous debate Paul and Santorum were discussing Iran; it was one of the best moments of the debate for me, but the moderators kept interrupting. I wish they would just shut up sometimes and let the candidates talk.

At this stage of the game, it's all just pointless theatre, anyway. To think, we've got 14 more months of this dreary carp to endure, before ... oh, great ... it starts all over again for another set of midterms.

That's not Paul's problem... it's America's problem.

and will only know Paul from what they see in the 2 minute answers during debates. An answer like that just doesn't help him. I just think it was a bad answer on his part.

Let me add: I mean it was a bad answer politically; it wasn't necessarily a bad answer logically.

Paul will not get elected because he speaks the truth. America doesn't want to hear the truth it wants to hear political answers. Sugar-coated everything.

Let's just skip all the debates, midterms, primaries, everything! We can have an American Idol-style program where folks text their vote during a "debate" and the winner goes on to be the presidential nominee.

Sad part is, that would be way more popular than actually getting out to vote.
