You could have named that the Romney-Perry show.

Don't think I have ever seen a debate where the whole night focussed primarily on only two candidates.

Perry seemed weaker than I thought he would, in a few places he reminded me of Bush with his mannerisms.

Ron Pau was made to look kooky as most questions to him were aimed to highlight his limited federal Gov ideas... rather than general questions.

Newt I thought did pretty good but I doubt it will help elevate his ranking.

Bachman Cain, Santorum, held their ground.

the biggest problem for the "lesser candidates" was the questions allowed Romney and Perry to suck up most of the Oxygen which is very unfair at such an early point in the race.

I agree with everything you said and would add that I thought Huntsman is the other one, along with Newt, who did the best.

I watched the entire debate last night...

Cain, Paul, and surprisingly Perry made the most "relevant" points... Paul and Cain both stood out in a good way though.

I thought Paul had one of his weakest moments when he was talking about the border fence and it being used not only to keep others out but also it could be used to keep us in. That's not going to get much attention but it does make him seem a little paranoid.

Yes. Freedom sucks.

My point is that arguing that the government has a plan to put up a fence to keep people trapped here might be considered a little paranoid. I'm not questioning the value of freedom.

Sure. But consider the symbolism behind it, especially with Paul's position on foreign policy.

We shouldn't need a fence in the first place. The fact that we have to put up a fence is indicative of a larger problem. With better foreign policy we could do without a fence. With that in mind... the tinfoil cap goes on. Why do we need a fence?

But Paul has a real problem. Most people are uninformed and will only know Paul from what they see in the 2 minute answers during debates. An answer like that just doesn't help him. I just think it was a bad answer on his part.

Let me add: I mean it was a bad answer politically; it wasn't necessarily a bad answer logically.

I tend to agree, Paul came away weaker after the debate because of the questions they kept throwing at him... and some of the answers he gave.

Such as, suggesting the airlines on it's own can thwart airline terrorism...which may be true but he does a poor job of presenting such positions.

At one point he was mixing it up with another candidate and he looked pretty ratted.

Santorum needs to relax a little, he's a little too high strung.. use a little humor.

the problem with the comments made at these 'debates' is the fact that they have no time to talk.

They are more like Q&A sessions than debates, where your answers have to be short and sweet. I think Oscar winners get more time to talk....

We haven't had a REAL 'debate' in this country in probably 30 years. That is part of the bigger problem we have here in the country today in electing our leaders. The media controls the message and who gets nominated.
