AOS Process started, have some questions

Hey all,

As you can see from my timeline below, I got my biometrics appointment pretty quickly. Until now I haven't received an RFE or a notice that there's a problem with the package we filed. With our application, I sent in some evidence like proof of joint account (letter from the bank), sworn notarized statements, I didn't send in any pictures. I have some questions about the interview:

1) When I go in, do I take the originals of the complete AOS package?

2) If I already sent in evidence, do I need to bring more proof like pictures in addition to the original copies of the letter from the bank and notarized statements?

3) Is my husband allowed to be in the interview room with me or do they interview us separately?

4) All we have is a joint bank account, we have a rented apartment and one car in his name, should I be worried that it won't be enough evidence?

5) Will they ask me stuff about the United States history or is it just for the K-1 or CR-1 applicants, that's where I read it. Or do they just ask about our personal information?

6) And if there's anything else I need to know, please share.

1. Yes. The interview letter you receive months from now will tell you exactly what to bring. It mentions specifically originals of documents you sent in, photos, proof of bona fide marriage, etc.

2. Answered above. Photos are not specifically requested in the I-130 application, but it is specifically mentioned in the interview letter.

3. Usually you are interviewed together. In rare cases where they suspect fraud, they may separate you.

4. There is no magic answer about what it good enough. They will take into account the totality of your circumstances and evidence to make a decision. What you have sounds good.

5. They will ask you your US history. They will need to determine if you are admissible as an immigrant, same as a CR-1 applicant abroad.

They might not ask anything, but if you have ever overstayed another visa or something, you will be inadmissible. I assume you are not because you were able to make it back here. Are you worried about something in particular?

Basically they need to determine if you are admissible as an immigrant and that you are eligible for the benefit (ie the relationship is real). If something in your American history might effect one of these two determinations, they will ask you about it.

Edit: I can think of many things that might be an issue, but unless you are worrying about something specific, I don't think a long list of possibilities is useful (ever voted in an election, ever claimed to be a USC, ever committed a crime... etc). There are a lot of variables.

Edit 2: Maybe there is a misunderstanding. Do you mean American history in general? Or do you mean your history in America? They will not ask you about facts about America, if that is what you are asking.

I meant about the American history, declaration of independence, constitution, etc.

I haven't overstayed, my visa stamp expires on Nov. 2nd and I am on my tourist visa right now. I have no crimes and only have been here 3 times in the past year and a half to visit my husband (my boyfriend at the time).

Those types of questions relate to naturalization process - in other words, the process of obtaining US citizenship. You won't bae asked questions relating to US history, laws, constitution etc. in your AOS interview.

Take your originals and copy to AOS interview in case the IO can't find it in their file. General questions about how you met, got married, life in us together that real couples will know. Don't stress, others here have problems you seem simple.
