My fiance and I are really hoping that we get our NOA2 in the next few weeks!! We received the NOA1 and I know from reading some of your posts that they're sending out NOA2's to the May people currently (hoping we don't get an RFE!!!). My question is, what can we start doing now to help be prepared for the NOA2 so we can get it in faster? He has already requested his police certificates from areas that he lived before and I know I have to fill out the evidence of support paperwork, but is there more we can be doing? He called the consulate in London and they were very helpful but I'm wondering if I can do more.

Also, and this is kind of embarrassing, while I absolutely can afford to support him for a while, I don't really have a savings account right now and I know that's on the form I have to fill out. Is that going to make it look like I can't support him? I mean, I make decent money and have two jobs so I definitely can. I'm probably over-worrying but when it comes to being with the love of your life, who wouldn't worry?!

As always, I appreciate any help you guys can offer!

When he get's the K1, and comes to USA, get social card two weeks after entry - that will give the govt time to see you in the system. He cannot work without your being married and applying for AOS using the I485. Apply for EAD and AP, work and travel documents along with the I485. They will be completed in 1-3 months and go to work. See the guides and others along with country of origin. Good Luck

In Arizona its hot hot hot.

Thanks! But what do we do before the K1 visa? Right after the NOA2 comes?

He will need a medical as well so you need to look at the London embassy site and see what they require and he can download forms and get to filling them in as well. Each country is different so you need to look at his specific embassy.

He has started all of that and he called the embassy yesterday to ask them some questions. I just wanted to check it on this end. The people on here seem to have more information than the government!

Oh that is so wonderful am so happy for you great news hey I know the feeling.:thumbs:

Here is the info about London embassy ok

http://www.visajourney.com/consulates/index.php?ctry=United%20Kingdom&cty=London

Used to be called 'Packet three', cause they send you forms etc through the mail. Now it is just a letter containing a link of where to download all the forms and the IV-15 check-list.

Immigrant visas: http://london.usembassy.gov/ds2001.html

K visas: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv_15.html

(The required forms to send back are in the upper right column of the page)

Explanation of checklist documents to bring to the interview:

http://london.usembassy.gov/interview_documents.html

The letter also provides a link on how to book your medical

http://london.usembassy.gov/immigrant-visas/medical-examination.html

New info as of mid-October 2010: The visa interview will not be scheduled until the Embassy has received the results of the medical examination, so get the medical acheduled early, but after you have returned the forms and checklist so your files will match up.

New info as of June 2011: You will be asked to bring your Police Certificate to the medical appointment.

The forms that require downloading and completing for a K1 visa are:

DS230 - part 1 which is pages 1 & 2 - Sign page 2.

DS156 - (in duplicate) Okay to sign

DS157 - (in duplicate) no place to sign

DS156K - Do not write below the line. You sign in front of the officer.

The Checklist (which tells the embassy that you have the documents you will need to bring to the interview)
