Hi All,

I would like some advice on this issue.I went for interview at the u s consulate last year in june, my petition was sent back to uscis, uscis sent my husband a letter that my petition was received by them on the 17th of september 2010. Uscis reviewed it and it was reffirmed in june 2011, and on the 26th of july 2011 nvc sent out the petition to the u s consulate lagos nigeria and on the 1st of august my husband received a letter from NVC saying my petition is going to the u s consulate lagos nigeria.

So my question here is that when do i get the interview date from the u s consulate lagos?, i guess by now my petition should have reached them so how long will it take the u s consulate lagos to send to me an interview date?. It is over a month since we got the letter from NVC. August 19th made it 2yrs of our wedding anniversary.

Please i need your advice on this thanks.

you can also call the DOS to see if your case has in fact reached Lagos (which it should have) and if an interview date has been scheduled. Also since it is an IR1/CR1 then NVC should be able to give you info on if an interview date has been scheduled good luck

Thank you all, my husband already since the time the petition was sent back to uscis contacted the congressman and since then the congressman has been having a follow up, the congressman's office told my husband they have sent a mail to the u s consulate but haven't received any reply from them. My husband's lawyer sent the consulate a mail but haven't received any response. Now my husband has decided to contact the senator and the senators office wrote them last week no response yet. So you see can't understand why they won't respond to these people.

Please advice thank u.

Nobody really knows the system put in place by these folks in Lagos when it comes to responding to emails.I have come to the sad conclusion that they just pick and choose at random.

Its really very unorganized communication wise. The Good news for you is that they have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with your interview scheduling.

Yes I agree with S_R but gently nudge them with an email requesting an update. Good luck

My husband's case is exactly the same. The reaffirmed petition was sent to the US Consulate, Lagos in March 2011. In June, I asked Lagos if they have received the documents but they said no. I went to NVC and they confirmed to me that the consulate has the paperwork and it was shown as receieved on March 21st 2011. In August, the consulate said "We are yet to review the approved petition. You will be contacted on when to return when we receive the file." The statement does not make sense. I have not used a lawyer but a congressman's office is helping with the case. I also send an email to the consulate every week or two. They are in their own world down there and are not consistent. They do not have a particular standard of operation. They told me two or three times that they have sent the paperwork to NVC for review and I had to keep reminding them that we are past that stage and that they need to provide me with correct information and they will say something else. My advice is, you are almost there but while you are waiting, make sure you have all the old and recent paperwork and be all prepared, be patient and prayerful. Your interview date is around the corner. They just have too much to chew.

Hi! Mine was sent back review too, but it has not been reaafirmed yet . I am still waiting on the NOIR. How long did it take before ya'll got your NOIR? The USCIS has contacted me to let me know that they received mine back from consular on July 11th 2011. So I am guessing we will receive the NOIR some time in Nov.

If they just sent it off on the 1st you have to wait at least 30 days. We had to wait 2 months for our first interview when the NVC sent it to Lagos. Our second anniversary will be Nov,26th. I wish you well and I hope I dont have problems when its our turn. Oh by the way how long do I have to wait for the NOIR?(notice of intent to revoke).

NOIR/NOIDs can be slow in coming. A year isn't uncommon. Make sure you stay in contact with USCIS , if you just let it sit then they will think you aren't interested in the results. Build up the evidence for your rebuttal and start arranging it.

This will not be over quickly. You will not enjoy this.
